I've been wondering that for a while.

And who have we played sunshine? BTW, since the death penalty, we are 4-13 against Rice, with zero wins in Houston.

^^ I am with JTStang on this one. Besides, its on the road, and last time I checked, we are 1-4 on the road, with that one win almost becoming a loss. Not to mention Rice throws the ball and has a good reciever, and we have a pretty crummy pass D. Don't take this game too lightly, Rice will put up a good challenge and may beat SMU. Bet lets worry about Houston first, then Tulsa AND THEN Rice.

I am sure Orsini is watching Rice very closely. Rice was awful last year. They hire a new coaching staff and they are playing pretty good football. If Rice does become bowl eligible and we do not then Bennett is likely gone. Bennett may need to win 2 of 3 to keep his job.

That's such a misguided view. Immediate success is no indication of sustained success. Let's see where that program is in 5 years. PB is building something that can be successful for years to come. SMU would be outright stupid to let him go now.

Let's see...if a better coach is available, then would be stupid to let him go?

Don't get me wrong, the best case I want is to win out, go to a bowl, win, and be 9-4, and PB can push the recruiting envelope...

Somewhere between that and 6-6 is where we will end up...

Recall that 6-6 is simply 5-6 plus a 1-AA victory - against an easier schedule than last year.

It doesn't matter who beat who. Rice is a very good team that's getting better just like us. they have Dillard who is a threat whenever he gets the ball and he can burn you deep with his quickness. The Rice game will be huge for us and may be the only game we win out of the next 3. Houston is this week and that's who we focus on now.

Who takes the Rice game lightly? Should we be favored, yes, at this moment. We did finish last year with 3 wins, can we do it again? The good news is that if we do, we will win the conference! That is a big difference, and are we not better than last year? I think so but more importantly, our team thinks so. That is enough for me. I will sit back and pray for a lot of luck and each player playing their best games of their careers for three in a row.
