I hope Bennett HAS forgotten more football than I have ever known. Lets face it, Bennett's playing days included the Wishbone, Veer, limited zone and man coverages, clipping, 15 yard holding penalties, different pass blocking techniques, different kicking balls, smaller players and slower players. Given that so much has changed and so much is new, I sure hope he continues to forget the old and adopt the new.

I wasn't there, so my feelings weren't hurt. It's called being a bigger man, or having class, or maybe just common sense. We humans like to have heros and idols (see hollywood), but we also expect them to be humble and gracious. No one likes the person that proclaims they are awesome. Just be awesome, and we will proclaim it for you.

Surely you jest. Have you ever heard of Rodman, Barkley, Cruise, any Wrestler, Namath, Gruden, Stoops, Baldwin, Streisand, and the list go on. All of these are "heroes and idols to some. I do not see where our world today wants our heroes to be humble, although I wish we did. I do recall the day it was that way but that is long gone I am sad to say.

Sorry, mrydel, those people all have some skins on the wall, so to speak, Bennett does not.

You have to take the rasslers out because that is their schtick, but the common denominator with the rest on your list is that they all accomplished greatness. If your gonna chest thump, you better be able to back it up.

I am merely stating that in today's society it is a fact that many do not want their heroes and idols to be humble. Sad but true.

It was you that put Bennett into the hero/idol category, not me.

Well, I think we want them to act and be confident, and c0cky even works with some, but verbally, I believe the majority still want them to be gracious, or humble or whaterver. BTW, we give players much more freedom in this area.

I think the better support for you argument is to consider personalities like: Paris Hilton, Kevin Federline, any of the casts of Real World/Road Rules, Nichole Richie, Brittany Spears, Jeffery Dahmer, Bill O'Reilly, Keith Olbermann, etc. All persons who have no skins on the wall but are well known/idolized. I agree that the these people should not be idolized and it is sad that we do.
Oh, and by the way, mrydel you are my idol.
The donkey's name is Kiki.
On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney?
Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.

I was trying to figure out how you got my personal list of idols, sans Kiki.
