what winning record?
i'm as disappointed as anyone, believe me, and i hate to see phil go but he needs to go IMO. but i also don't see why people think that orsini won't do the same thing that he did with the bball hire: bring someone in who says "i'll take the job if you give me x, y and z" and let her rip.
i don't think this is the end of the world guys. a new coach is not a set back for the program like it was in the last hires. phil restored the program to a competitive level and i think we can get a coach who can continue to take us in the right direction. but it needs to be a big hire who will TELL the administration what he needs. i'm sure this is the condition under which orsini himself took his job.

what makes you think he doesn't already have the balls to take on the '"asmin" whatever the f*ck that is.

I only post when I read bull [deleted], so here I go. Orsini is a [deleted] nobody, that knows nobody. And who in their right mind would want this bull [deleted] job? PB is the best man for the job, recruiting and HS relations in Texas. Your gonna bring some Yankee or somebitch in here whose only focus is to get back to where he came from. PB is committed to this team and community. Who is will make that committment. The coaches mentioned on this chat site will do nothing for this program. Leave Todd Dodge out of it. It is against NCAA regulations to pay families and player to move to the metoplex!! HA HA HA, but you still can in HS??

No I think he's saying some things a lot of people on here don't want to hear and that college insiders all know. Is SMU committed to excelling at the Division 1A Level or is SMU just satisfied with competing at a Southern Ivy type level.

A lot of people on here are pissed because 1) PB said to expect a bowl; 2) Orsini said that's reasonable to expect. Orsini also stated he wants SMU to move to top 25 in everything. We've moaned about PR for awhile...Orsini goes out and hires the PR guy from THE best company to work for (per its employees).
Southern Ivy level sucks. 17-42 sucks. 6-6 sucks. 5-5 sucks. Let's look at some quotes: "Why not us?" (CUSA champions) "It's going to take 4-5 years to do it right" (allegedly said to Copeland by PB early on...funny the transcript I recall said championships now).
So far, Orsini has been a man of action. If you keep doing what you're doing, you'll keep getting what you've gotten. Orsini doesn't seem like one for the status quo.

This is not your job at Wal-Mart where you are supervising several associates trying to improve productivity, this is football!! Get 22 somebitches that can whip the other 22 somebithches and the talk is over!! We do not have the 22 somebitches. We were outmanned all year long, except for the UNT, SHSU, and ASU, and we lost one of those? The games we one are a credit to the coaches. Have any of you been to practice or seen any of these players out of uniform? I have seen high school players with better bodies. For instance, Joe Studivant is a hell of a player at SMU, probably not starting for anyone else. Bryce Hudman took a job from a senior. McCann took a job from a junior (I think), Patrick Handy playes all the time. J-Will is a red-shirt freshman playing. Hoe pe he does not get killed by the time he is 21? Thsi team needs talent bad. Practices need to be closed. The field house needs to be closed to all the public, especially the moms who are doing whatever for the coaches. This is a big business and we are treating it like daycare!!

Sounds to me like you are advocating changes. Maybe the guy Orsini hires to replace PB will implement some of these changes.

Nothing needs to change, we need talent. Get off line and start telling he world about our school. Tulsa had players far away as Canada. Rice does not have to go very far, what a recruiting area in Houston Metroplex. Some of you do not wanna win and do not know how to win, just talk!! Run your mouths at some HS playoff games the next few weeks and get some 300 lbers in here and some 4.3 dudes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that's no excuse-for some time the DFW Metroplex has had more Division 1A scholarship players than Houston-and by a wide margin. DFW has more Division 1A sholarship players than about 45 states. When you all stop getting giddy about sweeping up the Bottom of the DFW Top 100 and actually win some recruiting battles in DFW we might actually be able to claim DFW as an asset.
