Decision to come VERY SOON
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2717770 I still think Bama is crazy to give a well named coach over $4million/year.
Saban made the right move to take the GUARENTEED money because his job security at Miami was not good.
If he missed the playoffs next year in Miami he would have been canned. Good Luck Saban cuz youre gonna need it!
Listening to Lou Holtz last night, he was pleading with Saban to stay at Miami. Holtz said the biggest mistake he made in his life was leaving the Jets to go back to college. He went on to add why would a coach want to go back to recruiting and NCAA regulations when in the Pros all you need to do is coach. He also said that if he went back to Miami if he ever wants to go to the Pros again they are going to be very hesitant to take him back since he flip flopped. I have no comment on this, only repeating what Holtz said. $40 million could help me make a lot of decisions and if they were wrong I could pay to have them corrected.
I think when you look at Coaches who went from College to NFL, then back to College you have to look at the best out there now: Pete Carroll.
Sure Pete didnt start out a college head coach then jump to the pros but he worked under Holtz and was a D coordinator and Assistant Head coach in College. Sure he was fired and no one was looking at him for another HEAD coaching job just smaller and lower positions. Now the NFL seems to be calling him like crazy now asking him to comeback to their side. I'm sure Saban can work some type of Miracle in his first year at Bama. PC went 6-6 in his 1st USC year and look where he is now. I'm sure after Saban resurects Bama he'll be back in the pros in 5-8 years.
Rumor on ESPN was that Jimbo Fisher might join back up with Saban at Bama. Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!
I seem to recall reading that Mr. Holtz didn't necessarily have a stellar tenure while Coach of the Jets. In fact, didn't he resign with a 3-10 record with 1 game remaining? Granted, it was the Jets but still.
You're close, but he was 0-13 with the Jets before quitting.
Here's to those that wish us well and all the rest can go to hell!!!
