Unless you are a freak like Dillard, the odds of going from Rice or NTSU to the NFL are remote yet this kid is giving up a degree from best rated academic institution in the state. Huge mistake in my opinion.
Maybe he just wants to date hotter chicks?

Someone would give up a full ride to Rice for a chance to play at North Texas Community College? Does this kid have PARENTS and if so, where are they.

Maybe he's having a hard time cutting the academics at Rice. The relationship with a coach is huge. Otherwise, athletes would always choose SMU over tons of lower quality, but currently better athletic, colleges.

Is Dillard eligible for the draft this year?

No he is not, He will be a junior next year and will be eligible after the end of next year.
I expect Jarrett to stay for his senior at RICE, if and only if Rice contends next year.

You mean like we did the last time??????
Changing the subject-- no good QB would show up @ FW Tech. Every QB in TX knows Coach Patterson hates QB's, & offense for that matter. He lives for pulling his pants under his armpits while watching his Frogs on defense.

You can always find townies in Houston to date, but a Rice degree is very well respected in life after college. Pretty stupid move if you ask me.

Then when he competed against Colt McCoy and lost out, now he's transferring.
Sounds to me that he's one of those athletes who wants everything handed to him. And he has too many enablers sitting around him.
When someone would cut and run like this, back in the day that's what we called a poo-see. . .

Don't think they are too terribly concerned considering they have recruited the No. 1 QB in America and High School Player of the Year plus the No. 1 Rated Texas High School QB plus a redshirted 4 star QB not to mention the First Team Freshman All-American QB for next year. Now they are vulnerable in the bowl game and could be forced to play a walkon but in future years Texas has arguably the deepest most talented QB group in the Country.

Wonder where some of those QBs will be playing 2 years from now. Hard to believe they will be satisfied watching from the sidelines.
