This morning they are speculating that Ben Cleveland, TE from Springdale (another Malzahn kid) will also transfer somewhere, and the "possibility exists for many others to follow". It is really kind of fun to be in Arkansas today.
The State legislation is currently in session. Watch for those idiots to make a state law barring any kid from transferring away from the beloved Razorbacks. If a couple more kids leave, I would expect the Goobernor to declare a state of emergency. This states entire self esteem is wrapped up in the results of the beloved Razorbacks athletic prowess. As mrydel says, it is way too much fun watching this Hillbilly soap opera unfold. Kinda like famous Arkansas last words before a car wreck, "Hold my beer and watch this!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
He also knows the offense that Malzahn runs. Rumor has it that he was not comfortable in Nutt's offensive scheme. Give Graham credit he knew he needed a QB for 2008 and knew that Mustain and Malzahn were joined at the hip. We knew that Graham would start rebuilding Tulsa pretty fast. Next year Tulsa will be competitive, but watch out in '08.
Let's see how well Malzahn's offense translates to division 1 football before we hand the 2008 CUSA title to Tulsa.
"It'd be nice to see Jesse Henderson break one here."
NO WE CAN'T DO THAT THE DEATH PENALTY DOOMED US TO NEVER WIN AGAIN EVER EVER NEVER TULSA MUST WIN Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
It just keeps getting better. Now there is a report that the Local bird cage liner (Arkansas Democrat Gazette) which is the largest paper in the state is debating whether to run an ad demanding the immediate resignation of Nutt and Lord Broyles. The basic premise is that the glory of the state is represented by the success of the beloved Razorbacks and this blight has cause unendurable shame.
It is schedule to run on Friday and, of course, it is unsigned. Now imagine going 10-4 and having a shot at winning the SEC and not having job security. The Hillbilly soap opera continues. Now, where's my beer?
The 1/2 page ad is in todays paper. The local Radio talking heads are saying it is the work of rival recruiters and not Arkansas people. Of course I have already run into a couple of people who say they contributed to the cost, but I guess that is because I do more research than the local Arkasnsa media folks.
Also, it has been reported that rumors of Mustain to Tulsa are false at this time and he is looking at several schools. I guess mommie has not decided where she wants him yet.
FOund this on another board, no source given:
Mitch Mustain is considering transferring to one of three schools, according to ESPN.com and KTUL in Tulsa, Okla. Mustain is looking at Louisville and Oklahoma according to ESPN.com, while KTUL reported Wednesday on its Web site that Mustain would likely follow former Arkansas offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn to the University of Tulsa. Tulsa officials have denied any contact with Mustain. Louisville is coming off one of its most successful seasons in school history, posting an 12-1 mark and earning a win in the Orange Bowl over Wake Forest. The Cardinals lost their head coach Bobby Petrino to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, but named former Tulsa coach Steve Kragthorpe as his replacement. Oklahoma finished its season 10-3, losing to Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl. Both the Cardinals and Sooners have starting quarterbacks in tact, both of whom will be seniors in 2007. Mustain will be forced to sit out one year wherever he decides to transfer to. Tulsa will also be returning a senior quarterback in 2007, leaving the possibility for Mustain to start in 2008 at any of the three schools. Tulsa hired Malzahn Tuesday as its co-offensive coordinator. Mustain finished his 2006 season going 69-of-132 for 894 yards and 10 touchdowns. Mustain also finished his Razorback career with an 8-0 record as a starter.
Latest rumor from the UA folks state that he is considering OU, and Texas Tech but leaning most toward staying at Arkansas at this time.
IF this is true considering that he has not enrolled in classes at UA and has received his release, would he be required to sit out a year at Arkansas if he stayed? Serious question. Does anyone know?
Interesting question. I am not sure...I would like to know as well
No because he has not transfered...He has be given a release if he chooses to take it. Nutt wants him back. If he comes back, he will still be on scholarship and will enroll asap.
If anyone cares, the news from UA now says that Mustain wants to stay on the team and Nutt told him to meet with the team. Meeting was to be at 3:00 today. No word yet. Apparently no school wants mommie. If the team does not want him back and if he can not find a school he wants, it is said he will attend classes at UA and try again for somewhere later on. I think he has begun to learn a life lesson.
I also heard this morning that UTEP was in the picture. Hard to imagine them not taking him if true. EDIT UPDATE Apparently the team said thanks but no thanks. Mustain told a local news reporter that he would enroll at UA but not participate in spring drills and continue to consider his future. The report says Tulsa and USC are interested.
Forgive me for being such a late arrival to the Mustain party, but what exactly has his mome done? There seems to be a lot of Momma Mustain bashingoing on out there.
She organized a meeting with her, Damian Williams' parents, and Ben Clevelands' parents with Broyles. Broyles asked them not ot come and to take up any grievance with Nutt. They then just showed up at Broyles' office and told him how mad they were in their children not playing, waa, waa, waa. She had previously written Nutt several letters demanding her son be played. Last week the grandmother went public saying her grandson was ignored at practice by the coaches. The players went public and said grandma was not there and was wrong. That is all just recent. It was mom that got son to decommit during recruiting in order to milk it for all she could. I would not be surprised if she did not get some hefty incentives from various sources to sway her son. That last part is pure speculation. Mom is very domineering and not a welcome sight on the UA campus.
