Am I the only person not too good to park at the Dart Terminal and ride the bus to the Blvd (for free)? I guess that is a benefit of being a lowly Arkansas hick, I find it very convenient and priced just right. Obvioulsy this statement does not apply in any way to those trying to set up on the Blvd.
I filled out the survey and noticed that the focus seemed to be on how they could charge more $$$. I responded to the initial e-mail I received from Hayley and gave her my thoughts directly since the survey did not allow a write-in response. She said she would pass them on to Richard Sweet and that he would get back to me. For what it's worth, here's my response:
"I completed the survey but it seemed to be focus on $$$. I know we need the revenues but think we should take a page out of the Ole Miss book on tailgating and not charge to tailgate. Pres Turner knows how it works. We should also allow folks to tailgate anywhere they find an open patch of grass. If we can make the tailgating experience more enjoyable and less of a hassle, we should be able to get more folks on the boulevard and into the game, which would result in more ticket sales." In my opinion, winning and a better blvd experience will get more folks into the game and that will result in more ticket sales, more concession sales, etc and that in turn will increase revenue. Nickel and diming the fans for every little thing and turning what is supposed to be a fun afternoon into a painstaking process of following procedures will keep folks away. If you have comments, send them to Hayley and Richard so they take them into consideration.
great email, my thoughts exactly
Dallas Mavericks - 2011 NBA CHAMPIONS!
Long live the Circle of Champions!
My whole point.
They have the plan and are looking for validation. Don't get me wrong. Join the M-club, Buy season tickets. I just think this is a miss step. I was hoping for a snazzy - out of the box, catchy, almost "Oh No" promotion or commercial as the marketing introduction. Mustang Militia: Fight the good fight"
I didn't respond...First, our goal should never be to be amongst the top 25! They just don't get it. Our goal should be top ten, places 20-25 should get the coach put on notice. Also, we don't mean a bowl invite! That is completely unsatifactory, what? we're no. 75? Oh boy! Am I pleased?
I understand stepping stones and marking progress, but as my old boss once told me when I asked him to be patient, "Hell with patience, I don't have time for patience?" Twenty years is plenty of time to waste on marking progress, now it should be get there or get out!
I fear they are searching for justification to do a money grab for the Boulevard spots by giving them to highest bidders -- to high dollar donors who have not shown up to a game for years. I really hope it does not come to that.
Instead, I hope they reward the loyality given by those who have shown up and tailgated every single game for seven seasons. I hope they crack down on those who just park there or don't even show up at all. I hope they realize that a tailgate spot is used by many more season ticket holders than who is on the name plate. P-P-Puhleeeeze don't do dis to us.
First, I am not a high dollar donor, medium maybe. Nothing to do with the parking issue. But, our high dollar donors are very loyal. For instance, I saw Lamar Hunt at our football game 7-10 days before going into hospital for the last time. I saw him almost every home game. Bill McNutt was at every game before he became bedridden and passed away. There are several others. Don't be so quick as to challenge their loyalty. Donations and loyalty go hand in hand. PS, they already have their parking spaces.
The only reason I brought it up was because last year it was questioned why our guy had two spots in his name given of his Mustang Club contribution level.
They didn't ask the question as if he had not tailgated every single game since the Boulevard began. They didn't ask the question as if Athletic Dept representatives had not complimented our set up every single week. They asked the question because he did not give enough money. Storm clouds are coming my friends.
Just filled out the survey. If I could pirate JFK for a moment.
