uniformsModerators: PonyPride, SmooPower I doubt that it would happen, and it would make me sick to my stomach, but wouldn't it be par for the course if they trotted out unis that had a blue helmet with no Mustang, which was replaced by the arched "SMU" with the dropped S?
I just reread my own post and ruined my lunch. Oh, and see the picture that appears below this post. If there are any changes to be made, they should look like that.

I think the reason we have been stuck with some of that is that our athletic budget restricted us to going with basic off the rack uniforms. If you want a truely unique uniform, you have to pay more for the custom design. That is another reason to support the Mustang Club. If we can increase the amount of money the department has to work with, things like decent unique uniforms can become a reality.
Just leave the mustang on the helmet alone. It can be red, blue, or white but I want a helmet with the SMU Mustang on it. I hope we know soon on what the uni's look like since I promised my pee-wee team that we would look exactly like SMU next year. You think they can get 20 youth uniforms for us in the order?

I think all of you are in love with an era and not a uniform.
Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
Something to be said for tradition. Some of the most well liked uni's aren't necessarily the best looking uniforms out there but have tradition which gives them character. Our current duds might very well look better than the old ones but they have no character, and certainly no tradition, in my humble opinion.
Why does our school allow all coach' s to change our uniforms. Say what you want about UT but you never have to guess who it is when you walk by a tv. I too think that the uniforms that we had in the 80's was the best looking one.
I would assume this is not a coaches' decision, if it's happening. Whether it's happening in marketing, in Steve-O's office, or someplace else, I'd bet my last dollar this isn't being decided by those in the football, golf, soccer, etc., offices.
And yes, Phil Knight (Nike dictator) is a UO guy. Rumor has it he sat down with the guys who were going to be seniors on this year's team and let THEM come up with the uniforms for this year's team. That alone is a terrifying prospect. Never turn students loose with that many highlighters. "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
... "Hit it."
teams and schools always change unis to keep things fresh, and to make more $. who wants to wear an outdated 1980s jersey? most of us won't. especially kids. they want to wear the latest and coolest sports clothes out there. but teams with Tradition like UT and OU don't change because they can still make money off those jerseys, even though they have changed them throughout their programs history.
does anybody know when they're releasing them ?I love their current unis. Hopefully they make the new ones into the NCAA Football 08 video game. although i did like the Blue unis w/ white helmets from a while ago.
im glad they don't... like someone earlier posted alll of you are wanting to relive an era that has already passed.... smu's jerseys this year were actually bad @ss... and i know lots of the players were happy with the change. especially the white cleats and short socks... this change was made by PB and Ed asking players for advice on what they wanted the unis to look like... but i do think we should have an alternate blue jersey to wear for certain games. we did this a few years ago when we wore blue as the home jersey and red for big games like OSU and TCU..
