OK, so here is the deal. It is my understanding by having understood that if a player is enrolled in a Div1A school and transfers to the same he must sit out a year. This has nothing to do with a release. The school must release him in order that he can talk with other schools. I understand that my understanding may not stand under the scrutiny that others with more knowledge and understanding on the subject may understand, but as long as SMU has not dropped to Div1AA then the kid must sit out a year in order to be eligible. At least that is my understanding.

Who would want to go to Minnesota after that debacle against TT in Arizona? Worst collapse I have ever seen since our own against Ole Miss.

Look at pages 166-173.
These rules are really confusing, but it appears that he might qualify for instant eligibility under two exceptions to the general rule of 1 year sitting out. First, if his declared major is discontinued. In this circumstance though, it wasn't discontinued, but it was discontinued for him. The second is if he has not completed his one year of sitting out after his first transfer. This might count, except for the fact that as a JUCO transfer, he didn't have to sit out a year. So, my understanding is that you have to read the rule and let me know what you think it says.

Yeah well okay my brain is fried. As far as the release. The way it used to work is that you could release someone to where they could compete the following year, although it doesn't happen often.

Isn't that the same link that's in the post that started the thread?

Yes, but it's worth reading again just to assure yourself that indeed, there is a person out there named "Chip Scoggins"

Not 100% sure on this, but I believe Cox is tougher to get into than Carlson. Of course, since Elizee is an athlete, there may be an exception.

You're talking about SMU right? Special consideration for an athlete? NO WAY

Hell may have froze.
Even in Junior College the athletes got to get their classes before anyone else. that way we could go to class and not miss practice.
Not the same but SMU should give athletes the best chance to earn a degree intheir desired major.
