Chuck Hixson although playing time was limited. Mike Livingston did well with the Chiefs. I think Keith Bobo played some did he not? Gary Hammond, although he did not play QB with the Cardinals. Fred Benners, NY Giants. I am sure there could be others.

Mike Livingston had some success with the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1960s and 70s. Jim Bob Taylor who mopped up for Mike Ford after his injury transferred to Georgia Tech-and I think was the ACC Offensive Player of the Year as a Senior-lasted a couple of years in the NFL. Jerry Rhome was another transfer(to Tulsa) who started in the NFL.

If you are going to take a shot at the program, at least brush up on your history.

Probably opens up grounds for an appeal if need be.

it looks like Richard will be signed to the Cowboys, as Matt Moore will have to go back to school for a bit, per the DMN.

I was Bartel's biggest fan while he was at SMU. Looks like I was right after all. I have forgotten more about football tha LB though.

Next time you see Gary, ask him about throwing a TD pass against the Cowboys when we was lined up as a WR. Says that was one of the greatest moments in his football career.

Bartel was a dead duck behind our offensive line. I liked his potential too-Major League Baseball arm. But he wasn't the right QB for SMU. I don't think I've ever seen a QB run for his life more than Bartel did against Texas Tech in Lubbock in Bennett 's first year(?). We had those slow midget WRs and not a one could get off the line or separate from Tech's secondary. Geez I admired his courage. Bennett's strategy was to sprint roll-out on every passing play but the Tech DEs ran 4.6s and were literrally sprinting unblocked to the roll-out position. I knew then that SMU had a long long way to go to be competitive. Total mismatch in the passing game. I think I remember commenting that Tech had better talent at all 22 positions.

I agree with what you are saying Stallion.

Bartel probably had the best arm of any QB at SMU since 1987. His problem is that he is not very mobile. Hopefully his size and arm strenght will keep him with the Cowboys.

Willis, if his hand is healthy, is probably a better QB for SMU i.e. he can avoid the rush--an absolute must for an SMU QB.

But he will certainly not be the quarterback with the strongest arm...

PB's second year... first year was at home against TT, with Wallis starting and that midget wr cardwell had 5 catches for 102 yards and a TD.. which we only lost 24-14...
