Even if you beat the hell out of Arkansas State 55-9 is a recruit going to listen to "well we'd love for you to be an integral part of the ass-whooping we're going to lay down on the Sun Belt in backwater Arkansas" or "how would you like to spend every Saturday playing BCS teams on national television?"

And even if general community doesn't embrace SMU football it should still be considered a disgrace that they go out of their way to avoid including us or mentioning us in anything worth while.

I forgot who the recruit was, but I recall he was our highest rated commitment at the time. He decommitted after standing on the sideline watching us get demolished by Okie State.

I don't blame him. Part of me decommitted from SMU after that game. Thank God I had alcohol/tailgate to help ease the pain.

Was that the game where the WR scored 6 or 7 TD's against us?

The guy, Rashaun Woods (I think) did have a super game. On at least three of the touchdowns he was well covered and made a great play. Did he make any NFL team?

Nice that he let's us know he hears us, but honestly appears vanilla. Yes we want to play our games at home, but mentions nothing about attracting BCS, exciting, or big money teams to our stadium. I'm not gonna have an anxiety attack waiting for North Texas and a rivalry team we've had for nearly a century to come to Ford.

it would be one game! Please tell me we didnt turn our nose up at the idea of playing ND in the Metroplex. i know this is probably spin control, but as a fan i personally would rather hear the AD say he tried his damndest but couldnt get a deal done. This is a big missed opportunity for SMU. at least Tcu didnt get the game, baylor is more palatable but it will still be hard to live with the buildup and hoopla for this one locally.

It sounds like a long-winded shot at saying, "well...sure would've been nice to have been asked, but no one's returning my emails."

Loosely interpreted, it says:
Notre Dame at Jerry World? Nah...we'll take NTSU at Ford.

Wouldn't we solve Baylor's problem for them? It would be a ND HOME game...so we don't lose anything from Ford...and ND gets to keep it on NBC.

Agree completely with RGV...don't be mistaken. If given the opportunity, I'm sure Orsini would jump at the opportunity for a big revenue game at Jerry-World.

Drafted in the first round by the 49ers and has been a bust in the league.

Like I said, Strike one! SMU fans long for us to return to relevence. ND still has the name, still has the fans, but no longer is as invincible as before since they, like SMU, have some academic criteria for their players. In other words, we might have a better chance against ND than against TT. I would much rather play ND at Jerry World, than TT at Ford. I doubt that the results would be too terribly different, except that we would have a national TV audience on a broadcast network. And we could steal some pub at such a game, if we were say to have the ribbon cutting of the Bush Library that day or have Bush showing the library off for the cameras. Suddenly, NBC cuts to the campus to show that event. BTW - "W" better be given a lifetime pass to one of our suites at Ford.

They also have to agree to play us. Orsini may be one hell of a salesman, and may have connections at both Irving and South Bend, but we're still SMU, a .500 team in the Conference USA West division.

Not a bad idea. The Secret Service alone would boost attendance by a decent percentage. Add to that the protesters and we might fill the stadium.
