Location has been changed from years past. It's at the Hilton Anatole on Stemmons Freeway. It's usually been at either the Radisson Hotel on Central Expressway or The Doubletree Hotel at Campbell Center, both near the campus.
Larger dining area to accomodate the massive number of Mustang fans in attendance?

OK! Who is the alum to whom you are referring? Meredith?

"Dandy" Don Meredith of Mount Vernon, TX now lives outside of Santa Fe, NM and is not in the best of health so he doesn't travel too often. However, I bet if the Mustangs extended him an invitation to speak, he'd accept. He was last seen on the SMU campus at the Navy v SMU football game several years ago. Former Navy QB and Heisman trophy winner Roger Staubach was also in attendance. Both men were upstaged by the pre-game fireworks and grassfire in the south endzone.

I thought the title of this thread was making ref. to Bennett.
"I like him and all but when will he show he is capable of leading a succesful NCAA program......."

The highlight of the evening will be when Pat tells the story about when he first went to Arkansas. He was from somewhere warm, California I think, and did not own a coat. When cold weather set it he could not take it. He got cold and homesick. He went to the coaches and told them he was leaving and going home. They bought him a coat and some warm clothes so he would stay. He will add that this was legal back then (I do not know if it was or not) but it should still bring back good memories of when we cheated and got caught.
I have no problem with a non SMU speaker. But I do think it would be best at a Kickoff luncheon if we had either an SMU alum football player or a well known athlete from another sport. Lance Armstrong, David Beckham, someone inspirational. I just do not understand bringing in a player from a nearby team with whom we compete for recruits. Arkansas will get some good free publicity in the Dallas area. Look at the kids on our list of recruits and see how many are considering Arkansas. This is a wrong move in my mind. And that is all I will say about that.

We continually go with the old and tired and same ol', same ol' because, as a whole, the department lacks imagination and creativity. To try someone young, energetic and enthusiastic would require risk... and it's the old and tired who have the BIG buck$. The young'uns couldn't care less about freakin' Pat Summerall.

P. Diddy? Get him an SMU hat and have him come up with a song.
I'm sorry. It's just Diddy now.

Hey whoever is willing to show up, that's fine. Although anyone who loves Frank Broyles would not be first on my list of invitees.

I'm sure after watching that game, he probably decided not to come back again.
