re: can just imagine steer and his little sidekick jtsteer, jumping in the nerd mobile, to race to the defense of their beloved horns

Now thats funny!.....and very true!

I think that is two players from Thug U. in Austin,
both members of the team in 2007, that have been
placed in handcuffs in just the past week!

Speaking of thuggery, I bet you're glad Willis didn't demand a transfer after he was suspended for being accused of a hate crime, aren't you big guy?

I'm just tired of the hypocrites who rag successful teams for their "thugs" while ignoring similar conduct at SMU. I am a fan of SMU, not hypocrites.

While I agree we shouldn't rag on UT while ignoring the conduct at SMU, since when has beating up a gay stalker been equated with breaking into someone's house and stealing their stuff? Quit arguing like they are the same or even comparable. One is spur of the moment lapse in judgment; the other is a premeditated, concocted plan.

You are right, they are different. One is classified as a "hate" crime.

This is a stupid agrument, so let's get to the bottom line. I like our thugs, Willis and the taser twins included, because they help us on the field. But SMU would have given anything to have any one of the highly touted "thugs" that helped UT win a national champoinship come to the Hilltop. Those who think otherwise are idiots. And if they are not idiots, and we did not recruit them, then Bennett is the worst talent evaluator and Div 1 recruiter in history.

jtstang, I agree with you completely in regard to whether or not we would have loved to have these guys at SMU. The only thing that I still don't understand is why you continue to call what Willis did a hate crime. I was under the impression he was never charged with anything. If it indeed was a "hate crime" wouldn't there have been something done about it?

i think people are offended by jtsteer, because he has no loyalty to the family. he "rats out" his own, then defends "other families" to add insult it injury. i think it's time for ponysoprano to take him for a ride

I have tried to be careful to say what he was ACCUSED of was classified as a hate crime. You are right, he was never charged with anything to my knowledge. Not sure why, since he admitted punching a purported homosexual, but he wasn't.

Anyway, this is not about who did what to whom in my book. This is about some people taking joy in the misfortunate activities of certain players on other teams while wholly ignoring similar activities of our own players. Plus although SMU is my number one team, I have a soft spot for the longhorns since they were my adopted "good team" from a couple years ago.

re: I'm just tired of the hypocrites who rag successful teams for their "thugs" while ignoring similar conduct at SMU

do you also pretend 2 + 2 = 5?

of course you are quite welcome to continue to live in a fantasy land
and pretend that the problems that smu players have had are anywhere
near the scope and numbers as the thugs in Austin, but that in fact does not equate to reality.
if you would like to once again compare arrest records, orange jump suits/jail time spent....we could certainly do that....and by the way things are going if we wait another weekend or two we might even add some additional
"orange bloods in orange jump suits".....but I suppose that would be futile because you would most likely reject reality again and live in the pretend world of comparing "apples to oranges" like they are one in the same.

The choice is not "be like Texas & win with thugs that dont graduate" or "be like SMU and lose".....because once again reality steps in and clearly shows there are top rated programs that are graduating players and not having players arrested with pounds of weed and illegal weapons in their car and an assortmemt of other criminal behaviors.

Yes, and that philosophy has been so successful at SMU over the past twenty years. Who's living in a fantasy world again?

First you claim/pretend that SMU is no different than the Texas Longhorns as far as criminals/thugs/arrests, and now you imply "our philosophy"(graduating non-thugs) unlike Texas has not worked over the last twenty years. So which is it? Are you just lying when you claim the criminal behaviors are the same or is SMU different?....Because according to you SMU has the same thug factor as the Texas Longhorns. There are two paths to take, some winning programs do it with players that don't graduate and alot of thug arrests other winning programs do it without the thug arrests and do graduate their players. It's pretty clear since both paths produce winning programs which path SMU should try and emulate. Given the choice of the two winning paths who wants to be forced to "hold their nose" at the stench that continues to billow out of Austin?
