Just look at this:
1. The University of Pittsburgh lost its top WR with a torn ACL.
2. The University of Arkansas lost its top WR with a knee injury. They're hoping to get him back in late September.
3. I think Florida State lost a secondary player with an injury.
4. Texas lost backup QB Sherrod Harris with a torn MCL. Who knows when he will be back and WR Limas Sweed got hurt.

So it happens. We have to suck it up and deal with it.

Point taken but we do not have the luxury of depth that these schools do

I'd agree with you to an extent but if you're Pitt and Arkansas, you pretty upset that you lost your leading receivers. Your backups may have more talent but could be a little green. It just depends on how those coaching staffs are trying to deal with it.

Regarding Rock -- and I'm sorry for him that he got hurt -- wasn't he our only JUCO signing in December?

Only JUCO, yes. But he was one of two players who arrived in January. Prep school DT Ryan Leonard also showed up in January.

This sucks about Rock Dennis. Coaches were raving about him.

On the bright side, at least it wasn't a knee or ankle injury. He should be able to come back strong.

The roster lists him as a transfer Junior so it would be my belief that he would have 3 to play 2 and that is without out the Medical Hardship for which he should qualify. If it can be shown his shoulder is fine after just a few games, the hardship may become more difficult, but my guess would be we get him for 2 years after recovery through one means or another. The main thing is for him to keep a good attitude. But it sounds like he has the desire after having come in early and working hard. He will be an asset next year and the following year.

The difference for us compared to Arkansas and UT is of course we do not have the depth that they have.

Nor do we have the schedule or competition. It is all relative. We have depth, just not as stout as theirs is perhaps. It is never good to lose a projected starter, but I will say again, it happens and better now tahn 2 weeks from now.

If you want to talk depth at Arkansas, they have lost their top receiver, starting fullback is injured and starting tight end is injured, and freshman Nathan [deleted] is pushing brother Casey for the starting position. Their QB position is shakier than ours for sure.

thats a shame about him, but like someone said, better now than late in the season and at least its something you can easily come back from. i'd rather him not play this year at all and come out strong next year than try and heal too soon. hope he rehabs well.

Because other than a "coverted to receiver", Arkansas has one QB who has played in a college game. Because our Soph.QB showed a lot more promise against our competition last year than did their Soph. QB against their competition. We have a redshirt freshman backup along with a true frosh. They have a true frosh back up and then a RS frosh walk-on. I think that gives us a better standing from a relative stand point. But then again, I may not know anything.

USC back-up QB Mark Sanchez cracked his right thumb a couple days ago and will be out for about six weeks. Who's #2 on the depth chart now? Walk-on Michael McDonald (USC legend Paul McDonald's kid).
