Read the Black Swan by Nassim Taleb. Read it at 3:00 on 9/3/07 in Ford Stadium.

My prediction is that we will win or lose this game and that nothing of great importance will come out of either outcome.

I don't know if you are right or wrong, but if you are right, the reaction to the win would be woefully premature. We still have a full season against a bunch of teams that we lost to just last year. I don't expect that this is going to be an issue come Tuesday morning, but I hope it is and I will be pleasantly surprised if it is.

Miracles happen. And it will take a freakin' miracle. I'm hoping for one Monday.

I long for the days that losing a game would be an upset.

An aside to this question, it's been interesting noting the billboards outside, and I saw the 29 TDs spot 4 times last night in prime time on at least 2 of the big networks.

It was also interesting to note the presence of a Texas Tech billboard on northbound Central Expwy, just south of campus on or near the old Mrs. Bairds property.

I don't think the campaign is particularly brilliant (the 29 TD spot getting 2 enthusiastic thumbs up), but it's interesting to see how some sustained marketing effort with decent reach has impacted the excitement level and general SMU awareness around town, among alumni, and among the University's target market (I've been substitute teach a kid's karate class this week and last in the Hillcrest/Preston Hollow vicinity).

The reason I'm posting this musing here is that a legit win combined with the rise in awareness may win us another generation of fans and students who would otherwise root for the Aggs and T-sipppers because that's all the past generation has been exposed to since Mustang Mania. I think this strategic correction on the part of the University could bear fruit for years to come if we can back this momentum up with W's.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Monday...

It would be big, really big. These chances don't come along often.
I agree.

But to REALLY get past DP, a 4-0 is required.

You may well be right, but anyone who witnessed a freshman QB in his first game beat a #2 UT in Austin in 1980 knows that wins can come at the strangest times. Maybe just maybe.

I predict that if we lose, there will be at least ten people on this board calling for Bennett to be fired on Tuesday. I predict that if we win, people will be complaining that Bennett should have called this play or that and we should have beaten them by more and Bennett should be fired on Tuesday.

Hey drs, what's your over/under for DeMyron's yardage on Monday? I say he tops the century mark how about you?

And that matters why? Do you think he was the only one getting anything on either team?

I would wager that there is at least one player on each team that has received "something" from "someone" that could be construed as improper by the NCAA. I merely pointed out that upsets can happen. Was that something you had never heard before?
