During the Pluckers commercial, when the audio sounded like some demented combination of pink noise and a locomotive horn, my wife wanted to leave the stadium (good thing we didn't now that I know about the readmision policy). It was boarderline physically painful.
that plucker's thing was one of the weirdest ads i've ever seen

I actually thought the new system was a vast improvement over the installed POS that I've been suffering with since the new staduim was built. It was completely unintelligible on the West side.
At least you could understand the announcer on this new system.
Of course, just having a new doesn't fix the problem with the "content". Somehow, the programming people (who I thought were new this year) seem to have that "hockey game" mentality...
What I expect to see:
- Replays
- Good/relevant stats
- Great crowd shots
- Spirit stuff synchronized with the students/cheerleaders (how bout giving them judicious use of a wireless mic??)
What I could care less about:
- Dot/Taco/Wing race (although I realize this is a sponsor item)
- Seeing our own commercial (preach to choir??)
- The stupid hip-hop music

Announcer: "And the quarterback keeper for Justin WILSON..."
Come on man, at least get our star player and quarterback's name right...

He definitely struggles with English and subject/verb agreement. Maybe he is ESOL. However, he's not so bad that you would wish for Bill Melton's return.

He should be the head librarian/interpreter at the Dubya library when it opens.

That's the problem; the PA sounded good to some folks while others wanted to sue for hearing loss.
Good sound reinforcement means everyone can hear the game show clearly and intelligibly without being wracked by sonic waves. It's defies the laws of physics for a sound array located in one spot to distribute sound evenly across something as big as Ford Stadium. In that kind of environment (unlike when you're sitting on your couch listening to your Dolby or DTS surround sound with all the speakers aimed at you), the trick is for there to be no "hot" or "sweet" spots. You want the sound distributed evenly everywhere. So if the game show producer was adjusting levels sitting up in the press box (off axis high and to the left) it's no wonder that the folks closer on axis were getting fried while the folks in the closed end of the stadium probably thought it sounded fine.

What amazes me is the failure to get this right when the stadium was built. As best I can figure the technology was available in 2001.

YES! What a joke, he couldn't even read off a piece of paper either. Not the biggest thing to [deleted] about, but come on...we can have a much better announcer
