I graduated in 2002, and if i recall, the "Plan 2010" was something like $400mn worth of new buildings. With donations, pledges and growth, i think it's grown to over $1Bn. that, and we'll likely get the Bush library?
so, buy some more goddamn computer terminals and printers!!!!!!!! www.officedepot.com
When I finally got to the cash only window having stood in line for 20 minutes, the young man told me he didn't have any general admission tickets at his window. What succesful business would actually turn a customer away who has been standing in line to buy their product when all he had to do was get up from his seat and go get the product from another employee?
The question that keeps going thru my mind is, what in God's name will they do if more than 20k people ever show up for a game!
They're hoping that enough people will have bad experiences and not come back that they can shut down the ticket window completely, and save the $32 it costs to keep it open for a few hours.
These stories are terrible and definitely should be relayed to Steve Orsini directly.
That said, I do think that expecting to stroll up at gametime of any stadium and not wait 20-30 minutes for a ticket is spoiled and unrealistic. I've waited in plenty of ginormous lines before many other games, both college and professional. It's like expecting to roll up and get your car anywhere near the stadium on game day without a parking pass. It doesn't happen at other stadiums, and we shouldn't get pissed off when we can't do it here.
Do you really think there should be a line snaking around halfway to the Doak statue for an event that had 15,000 empty seats? Do you really think its ok for people to be turned away after standing in line because every window doesn't have the same tickets?
Then please, for the love of god, somebody ACTUALLY CALL someone or actually email someone in the department! If they need to go directly to them, then take all of this energy on the damn board and put it into a constructive five minute phone call or email. They just MIGHT pick up on those a little quicker.
Tickets are readily available for pre-order by phone, internet, or in person. If you wait until gametime, then there will be a line, regardless of how many seats are left.
This, however, is not acceptable. If certain tickets are only available at certain windows, that should be posted large enough for people to see before they get in line. For example "For Gen. Adm. tickets, use window next to gate 3" or whatever.
I got to the game 2 hours early because I had to buy 2 extra tickets for my son's friends. No line. That being said-we knew there would be a big walk-up crowd for a game with a cross-town rival. Seems like financial suicide to lose ticket paying customers (for this and future games) because you didn't have enough personnel(earning $10 an hour).
Isn't that all the more reason to open up all of your ticket windows?
um...actually I've spent the last 24 years bailing my clients out of situations that could have been avoided had they planned a little better... ![]() Pony Up!
As I said, being turned away after standing in line because one window doesn't have the right tickets is ridiculous and should be reported to Orsini. But how many empty seats there are inside the stadium has nothing to do with how many decide to walk up to the window 5 minutes before kickoff, and decide to walk away because the line's too long. Like I said, expecting to walk up to the window at game time without a significant wait just because you think attendance sucks is just not realistic.
THEN PICK UP A PHONE AND CALL SOMEONE IN THE DEPARTMENT. The entire Media Relations department has gotten exactly ONE complaint by phone/email the entire week. If you've all been letting the right people know, then by all means speak up and I'll gladly shut up. But if you have a serious concern, it needs to be reported, not just waiting for someone to pick up on the chatter of a message board.
Please bail out the athletic department at SMU.
After the Tech Game, my lovely wife "accidentally" threw our season tickets in the trash. We got to campus 2 1/2 hours prior to kickoff for Boulevarding, and I let her have the pleasure of going to the ticket window to get our tickets reprinted. Surprisingly, it was a very short line, and no hassel to get reprints. She was at our tent for a brew only moments after we had arrived.
Apparently you just need to show up early. Don't blame the ticket office that everyone waits till the last minute.
