This Offense Is Not Being Run Correctly

I have been saying it for three years - martin needs the I - it will change our lives if they get it done. When we beat TCU is was becasue Martin was given the ball and some mo to run (I dont recall this ridculous formation for that game, but maybe I am recalling it incorrectyl.

Demyron is a horrible fit for the spread offense. He is a good, but over-rated player, right now I see nothing in him...part of that is the offense, part of that is the blocking, but right now he is not helping the team. He is much, much, much better suited to a non-spread offense, something like the I (mentioned above). He needs to get the ball close to the line of scrimmage and go, none of this delay or pistol crap...he is not going to help this team under the current offense

I pointed this out to expony18 last week, but you can count on one hand how many times executed the correct read from the shotgun. Notice I didn't blame this on Willis only. Hell the only thing that keeps us in games are his ability to improvise. But if you watch a quality shotgun team like Texas Tech their QBs and WRs are so precise and the passes are so crisp-it often doesn't matter where the DBs are. As I said last week-the ball isn't being delivered where it needs to be or the WRs aren't where they need to be EVEN on the completions. I bet Willis improvised on 85% of the pass plays. That shouldn't be necessary in this offense.

One point to make...
When we get the ball backed up in our end zone.... what was the call.

Lined up Martin in the I and got 4 yards.

Martin is BIG, Stong and Fast.

Running east and west does not start a good play.

North and south gets the job done.

We do not even line up correctly, IMHO.

Totally agree with you. The I formation with McKinney or someone, anyone lead blocking. If anyone should be trying to get outside, it should be Mapps. This is a total misuse of the talent we have.

The problem is that Rusty Burns has spent the past few years trying to implement the spread. That is going to be the base offense, it is too late to change that

Can't we run the spread the way Florida does? The back behind and to the side of the QB. Looks effective and worked wonders at Utah with decent talent but it is unstoppable when run with the level of talent that Florida has. It actually has the look of an off set I, with a fullback, 5 down lineman, QB in the shotgun, and 3 receiver sets. God knows we only have 2 or 3 D1 WR's. Heck we can even work it where we could add a tight end to it.

I have major concerns with the fact that our offense adapts to the OC and not the talent we have on the field.
