Speaking of losing a generation.

When Forest Gregg was introduced as the new coach at a press conference in 1988, he was asked by an SMU Alumnus, "How many years before the Mustangs return to the Cotton Bowl? Five? Ten?" Gregg answered, "A lot less than ten." The room erupted in cheers.

We beat North Texas that first year back in 1989 and this year we barely got out with a win. Either we have less talent now than in 1989 or programs like North Texas and Arkansas State have closed the gap with Division I. I am sick to my stomach.

We should have paid David Stanley that $150,000 when we had the chance or kept him on the payroll.

Where are they? Do they travel? Where were they at the Austin happy hour?>

The Austin Happy hour is this week silly!

I agree that SMU is losing yet another generation of fans. I'm class of 97 and we're pulling teeth to get people to come to the reunion this year. The sad thing is we are doing better than most of the classes. When I lived in Dallas I had season tickets to at least one SMU sport each year. I can't say at this rate when we return, we'll do the same. Which is really kind of sad considering how much less the season tickets are in comparison to the ones we pay for here in Austin.
