Frank Solich?
Did he just inherit talent at Nebraska?
How happy is he at Ohio?
How hot a coaching commodity is he?
He's 75-32 in his career. Most of that was back at Nebraska. Even a name worth mentioning?

how bout you put down the bottle. Applewhite is a short consideration. Don't think we need to be another experiment though.

How about we start over with Forrest Gregg! Or we could try Tom Rossley again! At least his offenses were interesting and he did a lot with the little talent he was able to recruit.

By the way, Wade Wilson's kid is quarterbacking Episcopal School of Dallas' 8th grade football team and he is going to be one to watch. Dad is doing a good job of coaching him. Our next head coach should start recruiting him early and maybe get lucky.

How about Navy's coach? He'll be at UNT in about three weeks and Orsini could get in an interview.
Solich is having a rough year at Ohio. The CMU coach looks better.

Paul Johnson (Navy) will get a look...no doubt.

If I were Paul Johnson, I would stay at Navy, one of the best coaching jobs in college FB. Besides they are more visible than we are or will be. With Notre Dame and Army always on your schedule, you get two very big media events and a team is admired by everyone.

Two more names that are probably getting a look from Steve O if we go the Coordinator/lightning in a bottle route--
Greg Davis is the Offensive Coordinator at UT. Recruits Texas. Long time assistant.
Mike Haywood, Offensive Coordinator at Notre Dame. Hails from Houston. Has coached at LSU and Texas. Recruits the state for ND.
They are not of the experienced head coaching variety that would make a huge splash, but they have Texas connections and roots. Sounds kinda like PB doesn't it?

Been there...done that. I suppose if you go through enough Coordinators you may finally find one that does turnout to be HC material. I don't have that much time left on this earth to go through all the experiments. Get us a real HC...PLEASE.

The main concern as I see it with hiring a coordinator is that they have to hire a group of assistants which will have probably even less experience. You get a rag tag group that has never worked together before. I think there are plenty of cabable coordinators but it is the rest of the staffing that causes concern. A head coach from any level could at least bring in most if not all of his own people that have worked together and proven successful (hopefully) from where ever they come.

Goodness gracious! This guy is a train wreck waiting to happen. Nobody else wants him - why would SMU? - I wouldn't be surprised if Chili Mac extended him the Rick Perry "goodbye".
