The original post was meant to state that Erickson has turned around a program with the same kids that Kutter had last year. (ASU has not changed it's standards in the last year) I don't think ASU cares how much Erickson drinks as long as he wins. Kind of like Lincoln didn't care how much Grant drank as long as he won. So the lesson for SMU is hire a guy that knows how to win. A big name and big $ to show commitment. Then win.
Yes and Arizona St annually recruits Top 30 talent, they went to a bowl last year and haven't played any of the good teams in the conference yet. Let's put a hold on the Parade confetti until they beat a Top 45 team. They lost to just about every team remaining on their schedule last year. That being said Erickson is a good coach-he ain't availiable. Commitment in college football-to those that use the word-means much more than spreading cash for a big name coach. Big Name Coaches don't go where evidence of the commitment has not already been shown. That is one point that BiDaddyDonGarlits is 100% correct. And that is why the Model comes BEFORE the Coach.
