How many players defect (if any)? Do we give up on the season? What happens now that we have a lame duck coach coaching the team for the last 4 games?
The players had better be showcasing themselves for the new coach. It is audition time, and hopefully many will get the opportunity to show their stuff. I doubt many want to leave and sit out a year to play or give up a great education for a lower division school.
We need to make sure that who ever we hire is on board with the Swinging Gate formation. This has really been our bread and butter over the past 6 years and, while we do need a new coach, we should keep this part of "the model" in tact. No question.
good choice. good they're keeping him on til the end but hes just not a good coach. maybe he can go coach D2 or something and i wish him the best of luck in his future.
as for the remander of the season, why not go balls out? run some trick plays, play around with the offense and just have fun. this season is over may as well enjoy what's left.
All my best to PB. He will land on his feet. He is still highly regarded in coaching circles (he tried to get the Tulsa coach to be his D coordinator at SMU, but West Virginia made a better offer). He can easily tell future employers that SMU is a shambles, which everyone outside of the university will believe. He'll say his D was decimated by injuries this year, which was true. He'll be okay.
