There are not many schools which have arguably two national football championships looking for a head coach which require only that you can win a majority of your games annually in a relatively weak conference in a reasonable period of time. And if you do that, you'll be hailed as the greatest coach in America and offered any job you want. If you fail, you go back to doing what you've been doing before that. Rosseley's back to being OC. Gregg is retired to the Hall of Fame. Bennett will be coaching somewhere very soon, of that I am certain. You probably just won't get to be a head coach again. A lot of upside there. If you have other options at bigger safer programs, by all means, go there. But if you have been waiting by the phone for 5 years, this might be the time to take your shot downfield.

Edit: I thought you were talking about past HCs. None of the current assistant coaches have been fired at this point. Usually when a new HC comes in he likes to bring in his own people. So eventually the assistant coaches will probably be gone.
True. Steve-O said the assistant coaches' contracts won't be renewed at the end of this year. The new head coach, of course, can hire his own staff, and could choose to hire anyone from this staff. But it's pretty standard practice - a new coach will want a big paycheck (of course) and the right to name his own staff. If he has worked with/is friends with one of our current assistants, it's possible. Not likely, but possible.

You're not alone. I don't know a soul who doesn't like Coach Sawyer. One of the most compassionate people I've ever known who looks out for his recruits and his position players. He's done a good job with a patchwork group of DTs this year -- he'll be fine. Good recruiter, good coach, great man. "What kind of weirdo school are they running over there in Fort Worth?"
