AGREED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then how do you differentiate between teams that don't play each other in the regular season? WVU never played Kansas who never played Ohio State who never played Hawaii who never played Arizona State. How do you determine the top two out of those?

Fair enough, but how do you differentiate between teams that don't play each other?

Do you really think that KU losing makes the BCS even worse?

Did I say that? Are you Stallion and going to put words in people's mouth? I said your statement that the reg season is the playoffs is just terrible. Total disregard for rational thought. Back something up if you have a valid point, the current system clearly doesnt work. Do you think WVU, Mizzou, or OSU are the 3 best teams? I would bet that none of them are in the three top teams..

no i didnt say that...and i didnt come to any rational thoughts...i just wanted to pose you that question and have you answer it because i have friends that feel that the KU loss F's up the BCS again...
the system works because if it was SO BAD, then it would have been scraped years ago...you have to remember, when the BCS was coming out...EVERYONE wanted it, fans, coaches, pollsters, voters...they all thought it would better the game...and i think its the best thing...ive been saying this for years but what makes CFB so much better than other sports are the bowl games...you can get some pretty ridiculous match ups and you can get some great match ups never heard of. ie: Michigan v. Nebraska (alamo bowl 2005) sure those teams arent best now but that was a great game from 2 of the best schools in the sport.

I think the preseason/early polls create a bigger injury to the system...it skews everything/ranking for the entire season...

If there was ever a year where a playoff was needed to determine a national champion, this would be that year. If Kansas is a "fraud" as some have sugested, then the whole Big XII is a fraud. There are probably 4-5 SEC schools that think it is ridiculous that Missou could end up in the championship game and I'm sure there are plenty of schools thinking the same about West Virginia...or Ohio State for that matter.
This would be a great year for that 8 school playoff. Invite the 6 champs from the BCS conferences and then I think you have to let Hawaii participate (assuming they can beat Washington and finish 12-0 . Picking that wild-card 8th team would cause quite a debate...but that team would probably have as good a chance as any to win the tournament and be declared National Champs.

The keys are the Big Ten and the PAC 10. They control the Rose Bowl and they have always used their ability to go to that game as a reason to boycott any playoff system. I think I read that the Big Ten is beginning to come around to a four team playoff and will probably be more so if Missou/WVA goes to the title game instead of Ohio State. The PAC 10 is already smarting because Oregon got hosed a couple of years ago as did USC. So, if they come around to a playoff, then it might happen. As far as a playoff its going to happen incrementally. First four games. Then they'll need to make it six, then 8, then 16, then 24. As they do, bowl games will be play in games. And the bowl sponsors will get on board with that. After all, having a 15/16 seed play in the Emerald Nut Bowl would be a bigger draw, then PAC 10 #6 vs. MWC chamption.

The only problem with this assessment is that some conferences, namely the SEC, have a much tougher playoff than the others. The problem with the current system is that it rewards mediocre conferences. Why do you think Arkansas is considering leaving the SEC to go to the Big XII. It's not because the Big XII is more difficult.

If the regular season is the playoff, who wins when 3 teams are undefeated?
