This game wasn't about you or me. It was about the team. The team was going to leave it all on the field. They came up short. That's life. Go whine to your mommy.

I am glad he went for it. You have nothing to lose or gain from this game. You win? big deal. 2 whole wins. Congrats. You lose? Same as every other game. And besides, this SMU team couldn't last that much longer. Glad PB and Co. showed some guts and I look forward to next September when we get to do this all over again.

And I'm looking forward to next September and hoping we won't be doing what happened tonight and during this season ever again.

There's a difference between letting players at Boise State call a play against OU in the Fiesta Bowl to win the game and letting players at SMU call a play against Memphis to end the 2007 season. ;)

Hey BR what part of my post was about you or me? There's a reason why organized sports is played with coaches? The point is the players did leave everything on the field and they deserved to have an opportunity to win the game, with the proper play calling they could have won the game.

Everyone involved with SMU is is frusturated with losing and as a former Mustang football player I am probably a bit more emotional than some, but saying that we had real opportunity to win a game today. In the last several years these "oportunities" have been far and few between.
Ask any great coach and they will tell you it's about "winning" not just for the joy of playing the game. There is NO joy in losing!!!

yea we mustang fans should really be thrilled with a 1-11 season. Good try Phil! We appreciate your effort! Maybe next year we can get a few wins but at least you tried!

You must be one of those guys who favors banning tag and other competitive games so everyone can be a winner -- hooray

It's hard to imagine, but in two of Bennett's seasons, he had a combined 23 loses....in just two years! Unbelievable! 23!!!!!!

It just goes to show when you go 0-12 you should lose your job and PB didn't. It took another dismal year[or should I say years] to put an end to this quagmire.

I can't criticize PB for going for the TD in OT (someone get me HQ on the HF, ASAP!). The strength of this team is the offense. I think that going for 2 yards on O was a better bet than holding the other team under 25 yards with the D.

No, it didn't work. But I think it was the right call.

Just plain dumb

3 - 9
0 - 12
3 - 8
5 - 6
6 - 6
1 - 11

I think that sums it up and I bet the seniors wish we had kicked the field goal.
