What is his pitch to the new AD? We will be better next year without McFadden?
With a little fortune on 3 plays this year they are 11-1. That is pretty good in the SEC. Personally, if I am him I try to make them fire me and take the 4.5 million and run. He loses McFadden, Jones, Hillis and Monk. There are some able bodies behind them but not really anything close. Next year will be rough for whomever is the coach at Arkansas. I am just saying that they have already given him an extension last year through 2012 and he is demanding a new one this year. His ego speaks loudly. And by the way, I would be very happy with his ego at SMU. He is a good recruiter and could do very well in Dallas. Just do not think he would "lower" himself to our level.
with a little fortune we would have 6 wins... "that's why you play the game..." " almost only counts in grenades and horseshoes.." every coach in the country has that excuse. he might recruit well, but recruiting doesn't equal championships (see mack brown). he should be gone for his little affair and email scandal, losing doesn't help
Mack Brown has one -- the same amount Big game Bob Stoops has.
Big XII?
Bob has 4 and Mack has 2 or 3. But I thought we were in a bottom line business where national titles is where you were judged?
I'm not going to get into another Mack Brown debate. Just did that on another thread. I like Mack. I think he's an outstanding coach.

Brown is an OK coach, but he had Superman (Vince Young) carrying that team, and USC LOST that title more than Texas won it. Mack might be the greatest recruiter in the history of the human race, or something, but as a gameday coach, he's not in Stoops' league.

Maybe I missed something but I think Mack Brown has a National Championship. Nutt is a very solid coach by the way.

Not to sound like Jerry Jones, but there are a ton of coaches who can win with the talent Brown has recruited to UT. That team that won it all was beyond loaded. What was the pregame speech: "Once Vince gets the ball, get the hell out of the way" ??? Hell, most of us could have thought that up.

Right now we have the opportunity to upgrade to a coach who can recruit players that we need. There are several names out there that would be able to do just that. Rosseley was a great x and o guy and look at his record.

If it's so easy, then pick up a whistle, break down film of the opponent and do everything else.
I think this criticism of Mack Brown is such a load of crap. Jealousy, I suppose because it's Texas and a lot of people on this board hate Texas.

Mack seems like a great guy. I can see why so many talented players love him. He will always outrecruit everybody in Texas. I don't blame him for losses. The OC and DC are the ones in charge of game plans. What could Mack have done differently in game management to beat A&M? I didn't seee him make any blunders. UT didn't play well and got beat. End of story. UT is not entitled to win every game. They are lucky to have Mack. Anyone remember how it was before he came to UT? There was a very long stretch between Royal and Mack when UT wasn't all that relevant.

The criticism from Texas fans is that he's not intense enough. When players screw up he never gets in anyone's face. There is no accountability in the program, period. The coordinators suck - and to what consequence - none.

Mack also doesn't wear a visor either. Every coach has their own style. He didn't get to 100 wins in 10 years at UT because he stunk at it.
And I love the argument now, "He was lucky to win it because he had Vince Young.'' Well, those players arguably come along once in a coaches lifetime.
It would appear to me that in his last two years, they put in Vince in a position to get the maximum out of his ability, something like 24-2 and Rose Bowl/National Championship wins over Michigan & USC.
Mack Brown was brought to Texas to win a national title. He has done that, and his teams will be in the mix every year. What more could you ask?
