This hire had better make "WOW" an understatement with the amount of secrecy and buildup this hire has. If Orsini trots out a good, but not great, coach in a week or two, it'll have a more harmful effect than hiring a mediocre coach last Sunday would have had.

since many of these head coaches are PAC 10, here are their salary packages.

MIKE BELLOTTI
School: Oregon.
Length: Through 2010 season.
Guaranteed salary: $600,000.
Details: Reportedly earns $1 million per year with incentives, including a percentage of ticket sales. Oregon adds a year to his contract after each season.

PETE CARROLL
School: USC.
Length: Through 2010 season.
Guaranteed salary: Estimated $2 million-3 million.
Details: USC is a private school not required to publicly release contracts.

BILL DOBA
School: Washington State.
Length: Through 2009 season.
Guaranteed salary: $500,000.
Details: Can earn $335,000 via incentives.

KARL DORRELL
School: UCLA.
Length: Through 2010 season.
Guaranteed salary: Reportedly between $600,000 and $800,000.
Details: Can make more than $1 million annually via incentives.

WALT HARRIS
School: Stanford.
Length: Through 2009 season.
Guaranteed salary: Estimated to be at least $600,000.
Details: Stanford is a private school and not required to publicly release contracts.

DIRK KOETTER
School: Arizona State.
Length: Through 2009 season.
Guaranteed salary: $950,000.
Details: Up to $1,050,000 in incentives for athletic and academic performance. $500,000 buyout for leaving early through Jan. 7, 2007, to be reduced by $100,000 each Jan. 7 thereafter.

Guaranteed salary: $800,000 for 2006, with $50,000 raise in each subsequent year.
Details: Buyout for leaving early of $1 million through 2007, reduced to $750,000 in 2008 and $500,000 in 2009.

Length: Through 2008 season.
Guaranteed salary: $800,000.
Details: Can make up to $630,000 via incentives. Buyout for leaving early of $50,000.

JEFF TEDFORD
School: California.
Length: Through 2009 season.
Guaranteed salary: $1.5 million.
Details: Can make up to $300,000 via incentives. Eligible for $2.5 million retention bonus for staying through contract duration. Includes escape clause if facility upgrades are not completed.

TYRONE WILLINGHAM
School: Washington.
Length: Through 2009 season.
Guaranteed salary: $1.43 million.
Details: Can make up to $600,000 via incentives.

Arizona...hmmm...could they have worked it out before those w's
Fresno State...zero Texas or Orsini connection, IMO
Navy...unlikely, IMO, but okay
North Texas ...somebody said Orsini already said no
Pittsburgh ...nope...Cowboy connection? would suck though
Stanford ...Doubt it, but I guess it's possible
Tulsa...well, it would be nice.
UCF - Why Not?...maybe
Washington...wouldn't mind
