Right. The committee is a rubber stamp. Nothing more.

Believe me, I've tried to tell him that there is more flash over substance with this. Very frustrating.
SMU football officially ends the day Paul Johnson is named head coach of the Mustangs.
..............TOTAL BS.......Have you ever watched his teams play ? If you know anything about football, you know he is a great coach by seeing how prepared his teams play....You may not like his offense, but like or not the guy is still a great coach....Paul Johnson would never be the end of SMU football. Not my 1st choice, but still a great one if he comes here.

While Bowden would be a great choice, so is Johnson. And let us keep a perspective here, any of the great names mentioned here (excpet some of the OC's with no head coaching experience) would be a step-up from where we've been the past 20 years. I have no doubts that Johnson would do a great job at SMU. I have no doubts that with an adequate budget he'll be able to have a staff that can do recruiting with him. Also, we have a bit of an advantage under NCAA rules that I learned last night. Orsini can make home visits now. And when our new coach is hired, the new coach can make a home visit again. So we get double the visits. So, many of these kids who Orsini wows, will then get another visit from their new coach.
