Lol. It's amazing how much in a fog some people on here are. Worried about recruiting? Put some wins on the board and some @sses in the stands. We have some pretty talented QBs and WRs now and they're getting us nowhere. The offense sure as hell isn't the problem.

You're worried about whether Johnson can recruit QBs and WRs? Who gives a rat's @ss? When we win 10 games and sellout our stadium, Johnson will probably move to a BCS school anyway. At that point, with a competitive salary, we can easily bring in a coach who can recruit QBs and WRs.

I don't like overly simplicity, lazy reporters, who take the time out of their busy schedule to write a quick article about their hometown college, SMU, who they ignore most of the year. Give me a break.

First, we need to win right away, period. Pass, option, use our current players better is the only thing that is important, not hoping to recruit the flashy, strong arm candidates with our past and current win/loss record.

Second, when we win, go to bowls and win the CUSA, we will attract better, higher rated players. When that happens, the coach will use them effectively. Johnson, as one example, has shown he will do that. Service Academies lack skill players for pro-type QB's, fast receivers & running backs, as well as defensive secondary.

Third, we will pull those players when we have earned the right to go into their living rooms.

In the meantime, SMU must create its own formula for success.

Next time, perhaps the writer will look at our reality, as a mid-major, private school, who must win now. Don't play lip service to the obvious answers, which others have the luxury of doing.

Very well said. I don't know much about Johnson. Would he bring the much needed discipline to this team on and off the field? My own son,
who is on the team, tells me all the time that he wishes there was some kind of discipline. Then maybe the team would care more and WIN!

Mark this down. The people looking for the easy answers are those that think magic pixie dust has been dusted on any Academy team that makes a Bowl Game-instead of realizing that Academies have gone or will go to 23 Bowl Games since SMU last did. Dig a little deeper.
