If he lost out to SMU because we were willing to reach into our pockets and outbid them to get back on the national stage--fine, move on, claim he wasn't the leading candidate, and SMU's interest made you want to take a second look at him. If they lose to Duke? Well, then they got outbid by the worst team in their own conference, and the worst team in college football, AND they have to play them every year, so if they ever lose to him--GOODBYE! The hire you let slip through your fingers turned around the worst team in college football for, what, 3 years running?, and now they are beating you?
