Rutgers Coach Schiano was at U of Miami. he has about dozen players from Florida on his roster. Just landed one of the top QB in the nation who is from Fla.

I've been in favor of this for a very long time.

Texas has the largest talent pool, but mainly because of it also has the most players. It also gets the most picked over because it has the most schools recruiting out of it. Lots of good players in Florida, California, New Jersey, etc.

I think the base of the team will always be Texas kids--kids know about SMU and it isn't too far from home, so its an easier sell--but if you fill half of the class with Texas kids, and then go around the country and pick off two or three solid kids from California, 2 or 3 from Florida, a couple from the midwest, a couple from Ohio....etc. you have yourself a really solid recruiting class.

Even if we start to win 7-8 games a year, we'll still never have a great recruiting class if it is ALL Texas kids. Just too much competition with the Big 12 and SEC schools that recruit Texas as well.
