OT: Titans fire Norm Chow

Chow didn't exactly do wonders for Vince Young's development at Tennessee. I'm wondering if the shine is starting to wear off.

Makes you wonder about his abilities. If Greg "WR Swing Pass" Davis can develop Young, then what was Chow's excuse?

I have more faith in Norm Chow as an OC than Vince Young as a NFL QB.

I remember Ron Jaworski once saying VY's top point of delivery was the equivalent of a 6' tall QB, his mechanics were so awful.

Well V. Young is an nfl Qb who took his team to the playoffs. I agree N.Chow was not a fit for Young, he wanted his USC boy at QB but the owner wanted Vince. A 10-6 QB in the old days was worth his weight in salt.

Good for Greg. I hope he gets it. June even endorsed him. But the story broke a couple of days ago and then ESPN had something this morning.

Yeah, I agree with you that the story broke a few days ago. I`m living near to UH and am actually close to many people who go to UH. It`s not the word in the paper or ESPN that I was referring to. It`s what I`m hearing on campus that makes it more certain. Thanks guys

While I'm not suggesting that Young marched into Fisher's office and demanded that Chow be fired, I doubt that the quarterback is terribly upset with the move.

But be careful what you wish for, Vince.

Word has it that the new/old sheriff headed to town is Mike Heimerdinger. He was the Titans' offensive coordinator in 2000-04. And he's a tough nut.

If your ego bruises easily or you can't take criticism, you're going to have a hard time playing for Heimerdinger.

Note to V.Y.: Call your old pal, Steve McNair. He played for Heimerdinger and he played for Chow. He can tell you some stories.

Don't forget about the mental aspects of playing qb as well. Decision making and intelligence are an important factor needed to run Chow's offense.

VY may have the physical tools, but this is also the same guy who had to retake the Wonderlic. Just do a Google search for Vince Young and Wonderlic. USA Today has the whole story in their archives. For all we know, VY may end up being the second coming of Kordell Stewart (who was also a great college qb). To early to call it a busted pick since he is early in his career, but how he adapts to this next coordinator will play a huge factor in determining the course of his NFL career.

The Houston Texans may have the last laugh after all. Mario Williams looked better this year compared to Bush and Young. It's not how you start, it's how you finish.

VY does have some good instincts, but that will only take you so far. He definitely doesn't have Michael Vick's wheels, so he will take some hits that accumulated over time will change the type of player he currently is.

Good grief. Taking shots at Vince Young's intelligence now? The guy had a rough year b/c he has chopped liver for receivers. Give the guy something to throw to and then lets talk.

Last i checked, Vince took a 0-3 team to 8-5 under his command and won the rookie of the year award - despite Chow's coaching.
