Here's an excerpt from an Article on a ND site.
Although overlooked by many high school blue-chip publications, the diamond in the rough received enough notice to take official visits as a senior to Notre Dame, Iowa, SMU, Oklahoma and Nebraska, and the decision came down to SMU - located only two miles from his home - or Gerry Faust's Irish. Confronted with immense pressure to stay in state with a program that was handed the NCAA death penalty in the late 1980s, Brown, with some inspiration from his family, opted for the Fighting Irish EDITORIAL COMMENT: What a crock of [deleted]"Although overlooked by many high school blue chip publications....." and "diamond in the rough". Why is it that some have to recharacterize history just to make a guy even more of a hero. Let me see in the early 1980s some of the very top Programs in the Country were probably SMU, ND, OU and Nebraska and Iowa under Hayden Fry wasn't too shaby either-yet he was overlooked and a diamond in the rough somehow. BULLSHIT-everybody knew who Tim Brown was.
Typical ND. While taking a cheap shot, they mess up the facts. The DP happened AFTER Tim Brown enrolled, yet that sentence makes it sound like both events happened around the same time.
Tim Brown is still half of the answer to one of my favorite sports trivia questions.
Name the only PUBLIC high school in the United States that can boast having not one but TWO Heisman Trophy winners graduate from it? ANSWER: Woodrow Wilson High School, Dallas, TX Heisman Trophy recipients who graduated from WWHS are Davey O'Brien and Tim Brown.
