''The best description I ever heard was that Dallas is piccolos and souffles and Houston is a steak-and-trombone town,'' said Joe Frantz, a Texas historian at Corpus Christi State University.

PonyFans.com: We're lucky enough to have a punter, Thomas Morstead, with what appears to be a bionic leg. Does having a guy with a leg like that change your strategy when a drive reaches midfield, or the area where coaches have to decide whether to go for it or punt the ball away? June Jones: I don’t think about punting.
That and the white helmets makes this the best chat ever.

I'm pretty sure Houston is a garbage and enchilada town. Filthy, filthy town.

You must have gone to a DISD school with those spelling skills.

I personally don't really care what we wear but agreed this is a great chat. Every response has a nugget or two in it. He's happy with DyMyron. Aldrick Robinson is going to be a solid receiver. Lots of skill players but lack of depth in the lines and secondary. Getting calls from recruits from all over the world. Justin will be competing for the QB job in the fall. Half of the incoming freshmen won't redshirt. Level playing field. Good stuff.

I think nobody is reading between the lines on an area that appears in June-speak to be "of concern". No surprise: O-line.
He states as much early in the chat, at least in comparison to Hawaii when he started there, and he mentions that the redshirt and class coming in have some good O-linemen (which I infer to mean that he might be more bullish on coming in).
Bus has had linemen his main concern for how long? Years? Like, many, many years? And Stallion, much to my chagrin, also focuses on linemen at least once or twice every season. Well, here is the place that I think has been the biggest area of concern. It has improved IMHO, but clearly Jones is going to work on this one. Pass-blocking is more difficult than run blocking in general, and the schemes require agile linemen who can disguise and execute draws and zone block. (edited)
Now before everybody piles on about Enright and Poynters, etc., remember, Enright can't do it by himself, and Poynter was down early in the season. And I never, ever said that they were anything but an area of concern, so don't read more into my comments. But straight from the horse's mouth, I think that the team gets more mileage on sheering coaching from what happens with the O-line.
Blocking & Tackling. Blocking & Tackling. I don't care if the team sports the Wing-T or the Wing & Prayer, it always starts and finishes with blocking and tackling.

I always thought it was a toxic waste dump and landfill kind of town. Hmm...

smustang2011: There was a lot of talk about SMU's academic standards for athletes, especially in recruiting. Is SMU now on a level playing field in terms of recruiting with other programs across the country?
June Jones: My understanding is that – I’ve only been here two-and-a-half months – we were able to get the players we needed and wanted. My understanding is it has been on a level playing field the last four or five years.
I can't believe this quote hasn't been discussed.

Hadn't had a chance to read the whole 'script. Is he secretly slamming PB?

Sounds a little like a slam to me, and wanting to set the record straight. If this is true, then it also means that Stallion is 4-5 years late in joining the mustang club.
