George, My condolences to you and your family. It is fitting that if the end was to come it came on Memorial Day and we know his essence lives on in you and his family and friends. God Bless You and Yours.

Pax Christi
may the peace of Christ cover you in this severe mercy...
I give thanks daily to our Father for men and women who have ( and do presently serve ) served our nation to protect and provide the blanket of freedom I sleep under.
Even through tears you are blessed, George.

Obituary in today's DMN for George Simon's (BUS) father:
SIMONS, EDWIN TOWER Loving husband, father and grandfather, was born June 7, 1922 in Texas City, Texas, and passed away peacefully at home in Dallas on Memorial Day, May 26. Ed graduated from North Dallas High School in 1941. He served 5 years in the Army Air Corps as a glider pilot in World War II. He received his BBA degree from Southern Methodist University in 1951. Ed had a successful career as Manager of Specialty Foods Division at Southland Corp. and as General Manager of Dairy Products Marketing at Farm Fresh. After retirement, he enjoyed his friends in the Dallas Boneheads Club, SMU sports, his glider pilot reunions, travel, reading and fishing. But his relationship with his family was always most important to him. Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Doris Wyatt Simons, sons Edwin (Susan), Wyatt (Nancy), and George (Erin) Simons, daughter Elizabeth Varhaug (Mark), 9 grandchildren, and his dog Snoopy. A family graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday May 30 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or charity of your choice.
