PB was a good man who gave his best for SMU. You might not agree with all of his coaching decisions (I certainly didn't), but his character has never been in doubt- he was always a class act who always reflected well upon the university. Yes, we all wanted wins, and ultimately that is what counts, but there is no reason not to wish PB succes at whatever he does.
Support the Commitment! We're all SMU Mustangs fans- we should all be committed!
All I'm saying is that if you want to wish him well...do it, email him. What the flip does repeatedly saying it here do for him? It makes me feel like I'm at a Little League Sports Banquet every time Phil's name is invoked..."nice guy!" "tried real hard" or another praise non-related to coaching...gee, maybe I'm the only one but I'm absolutely exhausted from this stuff. I'm sure receiving emails from appreciative SMU fans would really energize him, at least 1000X more so than doing it here.
Agreed... I sure don't care if PB was a nice guy. He sucked at winning games, and therefore is dead to me. Now that almighty JJ is here, stop talking about PB!
Sir, shooting-star, sir.
Frosh 2005 (TEN YEARS AGO!?!) The original Heavy Metal.
I know a guy recruited by PB, Clay Hebert, who later went to Rice. To quote, verbatim, "SMU is great, but I could never play for Phil Bennet." I'm over Phil. Let's move on. We've never lost the tailgate.
