Regarding the SMU SID, he is busy following the big cat's tracks in Indiana, not Waco.

Hopefully our next game against Baylor will be like our 1986 game against them in Waco.....without the rain.

I like that, too. An away game less than 2 hours away each year and an away game in Houston every year. I dare say that the schedule is starting to make sense.

In my PG-13 fantasy, we'll get a non-con against Notre Dame. This is actually possible for a number of reasons.

1) ND wants more recruiting foothold in TX
2) Both teams would make tons of cash off the game
3) Historic rivalry, TV ratingst hrough the roof
4) If both teams keep on their current developing trends, it'll actually be a pretty good game.
5) if Orsini goes, it gives the schools an additional link.
We've never lost the tailgate.

Even if he stays there's already the link. I like Orsini's thinking that we want people to come to Ford, but if we played one marquee name a year at JerryWorld, I would't be too upset. Note that the Tech's and A&M's of the world aren't marquee names. I'm talking Notre Dame, Texas, USC, etc. Other than that, they come to Ford.

(Time for me to watch Italy v. Romania, and it's time for Italia to get their act together, sure it was a strong Netherlands side, but a two nil throttling was not good for the defending World Cup champs....... okay, now back to our regularly scheduled program of American football banter.)

This is great news! A rivarly between Baylor and SMU is something that needs to be fostered...it would be great for both schools. Baylor has no real rival and, lets be honest here, our rivalry with TCU isn't all that fiery...I want a rivalry I can sink my teeth into and truly care about...maybe SMU v. Baylor will someday develop into such a game.

Good contrast in team colors...similar demographics of students at both schools, but much different attitudes and stereotypes (the Abercrombie Praise & Worship School vs. the Prada party school)...and very close to each other on I-35...

I am already getting fired up!
Let me explain something to you. I am not "Mr. Lebowski". You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me.

I'll never forget the reverse on the kick-off return that we took back for a TD

I'll take those games at a renovated Cotton Bowl, please and thank you.

And Romania is outplaying Italy at the moment.

JerryWorld will be the greatest football stadium on the planet when it opens. I think recruits would want to play there once.

Damn.... I still have the game on pause. Got to get away from the computer before I learn more!

Eh, maybe it's just me, but I absolutely loathe JerryWorld's suspended video boards...plus, we have a history in the Cotton Bowl, and JerryWorld is in Tarrant County.

And it's good to see I'm not the only huge soccer fan on this board. Won't be able to see the game between the Dutch and Les Bleus this afternoon though.

I'd much rather spend a day in Fair Park then a day in Arlington by I any stretch of the imagination, but that new Cowpoke stadium looks amazing, just ashame that it couldn't have been in Fair Park. And I like those suspended video boards. Gonna' be sweet.

I hope the Dutch and their total football completely annihilates les Bleus.

Forza Azzuri!

(With England and Denmark --- where I lived for a while --- both not in the competition I have to root for my other teams, Italy, zee Gehmans, the pretty little Dutch girls, and Czech Republic... gotta' support the heritage of my last name there.)

I'm hoping the Czechs will do well (part of my heritage), but they got absolutely annihilated by Portugal the other day. Unfortunately, Scotland and Ireland (other homelands) are not in contention, so other than the Czechs, I've got to go for countries I've visited: France, Spain, and Italy.

Coming into the tourney and wishing those four teams well, I thought I would have a good chance to see one of my teams win the Cup. That appears much less likely now, with Portugal and the Netherlands looking to be head-and-shoulders above everyone else, the French and Italians disappointing in their first match, and the Czechs looking to be on a crash course with a mighty good Croatian team, if they even get out of the group stage.

And I just can't see playing a home game in a stadium that is closer to TCU than to the Hilltop.

BTW - I do root for Romani too, as my Dad has had many a grad students from Romania. There are a lot of sides I like, and a few sides I detest, so I always have rooting interest. Don't know why I have a problem I'm not a big fan of les Bleus. I love France. I love French films. I love speaking French [badly].... who knows? Maybe I need to see them get knocked around a bit before I can get behind them.

I became a huge Dutch fan a few world cups ago when Dennis Bergkamp and, ooh, I can't remember the other guy right now... both injured to start the world cup, but both normal starters, they were reserves for the first game. In the second half the game was tied, and we cut to a shot of Bergkamp and the other dude, what was his name? Fantastic midfielder, basically marching down the sidelines, perhaps out of the locker room, together. It was so cinematic. Here come the heroes. Minutes later they were in the game and the Netherlands scored. Glorious.

Yes, I don't like Arlington.... but what are you gonna' do? ALl things being equal, all home games should be at Ford.
