Maybe someone could help me as to a real reason (not prestige or any other b.s.) why a current Big 12 school would go to the Pac 10. If it does not involve the potential for a bunch more money, then it won't happen.
No one on the SEC board would EVER consider taking SMU into their conference. they schedule cupcakes for OC games and all the majority of the teams in the SEC are tough...even if SMU came back to dominance in the next 3-5 years, the SEC still wouldnt take us. the Big XII would. Expansion in all BCS conferences is great, especially when they take nonBCS schools. One step closer to maybe a playoff format.
Why on Earth would the Big 12 want SMU?! As I stated they already own the Dallas media market without SMU. Of course this is all foolishness as we are not going to be invited to join a major conference in the foreseeable future unless we set the world on fire and win four straight C-USA titles and Ford and Moody are sold out for every game. The best hope for all non-BCS teams is and always will be the eventual destruction of the format.
Back off Warchild seriously.
yes i agree, this is very foolish.
It must be summer because the expansion threads start. There's the PAC-10 scenario. The Big Ten scenario. The SEC to 14 scenario. The BE football/basketball split scenario. The Arkansas to the Big XII scenario if CU or MU leaves which triggers that ACC raid scenario along with its raid again of the BE. The MWC expansion and WAC decimation scenario (with TCU being relegated to the red eyed step-child division). The CUSA to 14 scenario. The Baylor demotion scenario (haven't heard that one in a while) and this scenario usually is started by Frog fans who complain that they should be in the Big XII instead of Baylor. And then there is the premier league scenario which has the bottom two teams from each BCS conference dropped periodically and replaced by two teams from non-BCS conferences (similar to the English Premier soccer league). And let us never forget the Magnolia League scenario in which the privates form their own conference.
I could easily see SMU in the SEC. Once June Cometh and Doh turn our money making programs around and get them into the Top 25 or Top 10 we will be very desirable to a BCS conference.
As mentioned earlier, the Big XII already has the Dallas market captivated so the SEC would love to take a piece of it. If the SEC ever goes to 14 teams, I can see SMU at the top of the list.
Maybe the XII will wise up, kick out the Bears, and add us like they shold have done in the first place....
Colorado would leave in a heartbeat! No one in the SEC is going to leave. Therefore the Big XII would need to replace a team in the north. My guess is they get a Boise or some other team like that. Only IF something happens, which won't be for awhile.
going over .500 would be a safer bet to ensure a bowl game though
