How about the QB from Arkansas State? He looked like a Turner clone to me.

You guys know how I feel about program sizes and weight but Korey Leonard was listed at 6-1, 205 and Turner is listed as 6-0, 180 some 25 pounds lighter. Plus I've never seen Leornard half-naked like I did in PonyStampedes summer workout pictures.

Thanks Yogi
c'mon, people who know football think its obvious but there are soo many others just think the QB is to blame, you should have heard everyone in the student section last year blaming him for the offense sputtering and they didnt recognize that he was counting to one-one thousand in his head before getting hit....it was worse than the nfl
Georgia's Sugar Bowl performance taught the whole nation on how to defeat the Run & Shoot. Pressure, pressure and more pressure! Makes a good QB look like [deleted].

I think that lesson has been taught many times before the 2009 Sugar Bowl. Remember when Texas A&M's Wrecking Crew used to go after Houston's Run and Shoot in the early 90s. Bet the Wrecking Crew got to the QB about 10-12 times a game.

So the secret is out. Have the best D in the country and you too can beat the R&S.

Most CUSA teams have about one defender who can actually disrupt the passing game by putting constant pressure on the QB. I know Phillip Hunt at Houston is one. I know Tech has about 3-4 DEs who have that ability. TCU has in the past but is starting over at DEs. They do have Hodge though at SS and that kid can be a major pain in the [deleted]. Point being that most CUSA teams don't have the athletes to pressure the QB which is why so many games end in the 40s.

I think that the R&S can really be successful in CUSA as it is right now, the question is can we execute it effectively early on this season, or will we really have to wait a year or two to wreak havoc.

As I said the last time you said that, I sure would like to know who they are. They only had 1 DE make the Honorable Mention list last year.

Checked on Hodge to reconfirm his ability to get to the QB. Hodge lead the Nation in sacks by DBs with 8 last year. SMU's entire Defensive Backfield had 1/2 of a Sack. Who is going to be our Stephen Hodge and quite frankly which High School does he play for this year so I can monitor his recruitment.

Good call, jt. Actually, I have, and as pony warrior suggested, his responses have been basically (paraphrasing here) "it's early, we're evaluating, we've got a lot of guys we like, they're all learning, they'll get better, etc."
I think it's smart on his part not to announce a starter this early. If he says Willis is my starter and all the sudden Logan Turner looks outstanding and Willis is sucking wind, he will be have to reevaluate his choice and at the same time send a message that he doens't stick by his choice. Bottom line though, it's a typical coaching answer. Don't pin yourself into a corner.
I don't want him to announce Willis as his starter. Anything other than "he's done what we asked him and has been reinstated" would be nice. He has mentioned other QB's performance by name, but not the guy who should be the starter. Leads me to think he's got somebody else in mind. I hope not.
