That song is still playing over and over in my head which is not a good thing.

Park RLK on the steps of the Natatorium and bring the team out to our fight song.

I said this on Thursday as I called it the 2008 version of Fiddler on the Roof! And I was called out on it by couch'em. Still feel that way? It was a power drain.

Now, look at the reaction. You know bad when you hear it. It fits the Vard not a football game.

Could there be even one person who thought that was good? I dont see how. Maybe someone from France? Didnt they like Boxcar Willie?

Amazing how everyone is keying in on the same thing and I was caught in it too. Excitement is building to watch the Team run out on the field for the first time at home this year and that embarrassing song comes on. It was VERY uncomfortable and everyone in my section, kinda just hung their head and stared at their shoes, not wanting to look at anyone or watch the spectacle unfolding.

At first I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, but when I heard the chorus repeat about the 50th time, crying was the only option.

If they signed some contract with this guy, let him play 30 minutes before kickoff, don't ruin the excitement of the team coming on the field.

Funny that they did this to get people at Ford early, if this is a tradition that continues, I plan on walking in as the opening kickoff is taking place.

Definitely will sign it! Please stop it. Surely they aren't going to get this guy to every game.

Consider yourself lucky, I wish I had been late.....

basically, right before the team ran onto the field, some old dude with a guitar and a Hannah Montana Headset strolled on to the field with a few back up singers and sang something about "pony up" which sounded something like a poor man's verison of the Monday Night Football theme...it kept going and going and going and going... and was the center piece as the team ran onto the field.

A bad experience all the way around.

I don't think he actually "called you out" on it. I think just called you a tampon. Big difference. We both knew it was a disaster. We both heard it on the 4th of July. I am glad I missed pregame.

i'll sign it, and i think there should be another petition to either have the P.A. announcer changed or have him change his whole approach to calling the game

It appears we're seeing a trend the last several years or so. They're trying to rewrite our history - whether it be our school colors, school fight songs, traditions (during & after the games) for all this new stuff that doesn't sell!!! Remember several years back when they started screwing with our logo & had that stupid corporate SMU (swooping letter) logo along with that ridiculous looking galloping horse (definitely wasn't a MUSTANG) running toward us but at an angle. What the H%^%^ is going on here??!! When is it going to stop!!!

"Tradition" sells & we've got it - with the exception of the last 20 yrs or so when our administration & faculty tried to keep our football team a perenial loser. It also keeps people involved & always bringing them back. Just look at ND, USC, Texas, so on & so on.

Some of our great traditions:

1. Our schools colors of Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue, our fight song, our traditions during the game with the band, they're the best!!! They look gorgeous together or separate. Lighter shades of "red" & "blue" look mismatched or terrible in general. Just look at our current unis. The design is OK but the colors -forget it. Go to our B&N bookstore & you see 50 different shades of "red" & "blue" - not one standard color like in most college bookstores.

2. The "Diamond M" in between the smaller "s" & "u". I believe the band is the only ones still using it.

3. Our great running mustang running towards the right (while the Ford corporation uses their mustang running towards the left)

4. Peruna - the song!!!

5. And many, many more including this announcer thing which I haven't been to a game yet but I'll take your word for it!!!

Why are we getting away from them??!! Where & when is the administration going to finally put their foot down??!!

We've been hijacked & it's now time to fight back! This is what happens when you DON'T TEACH YOUR TRADITIONS & HISTORY to the young!! It's going to be rewritten under your very noses.

Enough is enough!!!
BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.

Harvard "red" has always been the crimson tint.
