did jones really say that in high school BLM hadn't been a real passing quarterback? man o man. this season is a 2 million dollar pile of crap.

So I guess you would rather have PB or an OC as coach? Is there a coach at SMU you are happy with?

Yes, he said it, and it was the truth. Katy was a power running team, Mitchell average about 10 passes per game.

Pretty scary isn't it.
Guy wasn't even a big time passer in HIGH SCHOOL and we demote the record breaker to make him a starter.

And isn't it just possible that Coach Jones (who has been pretty good at evaluating talent in the past) might, just maybe, knows something that all you doom and gloom types don't? Nah. Couldn't be.

I've pointed that out several times, BLM averaged 10 passes a game in high school, barely completing 60%, against MAN coverage, which is nothing like he is seeing in college.

I understand you need to learn coverage and all that, but even when he reads the right coverage he's not making the throws. This Saturday could be brutal since TCU's defense is much better than Techs.

JJ should reimburse the season ticket holders with his $2mil for this little experiment of his.

BL needs to stand on the sidelines for awhile to clear his head. I don't hate the guy. He was thrown in over his head. Too bad really. He should have been redshirted along with Braden.

I don't remember Stallion pointing it out early but he pointed it out 15 times in one thread after he heard the Rice game announcers say it. I don't know if he'll be the qb in 3 years but I trust Jones' qb talent evaluation more than Stallion's...I just regret Jones putting all his JUCO eggs in the Kevin Craft basket. Of course, before Neuheisel, few were offering him.

Sounds like you're implying SMU won't have a good offense in 2010. Yes, I know that's not what you literally said

BLM did make some good throws, but obviously is a long way from being a game changing QB. He does have a cannon arm and probably is our best pure passer right now, fundamentally. The problem is that a big part of playing QB is reading the defense and in the run and shoot anticipating the route adjustments. The kid made a lot of mistakes against a top 20 team, instead of moping about it, he appears to have the right attitude, "I learned a lot tonight". Long term, it will be to see if he continues to be a deer in the headlights, or if he learns and improves game by game. Jones was right to pull him late in the game and let Logan get some work. BLM had a semester's full of schooling Saturday.

It doesn't sound like Craft had a very good game this past Saturday as UCLA lost to BYU 59-0!

He was 23-39-1 for 230 yards -- Bruins had 9 yards rushing.
