On the interview with the scout site today, DeMyron said " I need to play hard every down, not take plays off". Tell us something, that we don't already know.
Amen.
I agree, but, to admit to what many already suspected, is a disgrace.
I know they aren't listed as RB's anymore , but I would love to see us use Bryce Lunday or BJ LEE and let their speed make people pay. Have either of them played this year or are they Red Shirts?
"I'm a little different than your normal Texas coach, but I get it done, and we win."
Thats what I am saying... Short dump off passes instead of the run... Did u Get it? "I'm a little different than your normal Texas coach, but I get it done, and we win."
Think Kris Briggs has any eligibility left?
"It's a couple hundred million dollars. I'm not losing sleep over it." -- David Miller
Martin really does end up being the odd man out. He has the size and skill to be an effective fullback. Unfortunately this offense needs a fullback as much as a TCU grad needs a money clip. So Martin is just kind of out there. But as a blocker he helps the O-line give Mitchel his 3 step drop, so he does have value in the running game. I imagine that as the QB/WR dynamic get more in synch, and the O-line gels a bit more, we'll see Butler come in as more of a rushing threat. But for now we're putting all of our eggs into Mitchell's learning basket.

You base that on nothing more than his high Rivals ranking from several years ago and perhaps the TCU game his freshman year.
I love Demyron, but I would question his judgement in admitting to the print media that he takes plays off, as a senior. If that is the case, we probably should put somebody else in. Who does not take plays off. Just a thought.
Martin was only a 2* 5.3 coming in. Even so Stallion was very high on him as his senior season developed. -CoS
Its no surprise that Martin has not performed well in this offense. I gave a Senior 4 year starter a 5 for mediocre BEFORE the season. He does not have the necessary acceleration and quickness to be effective in this particular offense. I really have little doubt that if you lined him up 8 yards back in the I Formation he could be a 1,000 yard rusher. He's got speed (Ponyfans have assured me its in the sub 4.5 range on several occasions) and strength just not quick acceleration. This shouldn't have come as any surprise to anyone watching his running style. Certain styles fit certain offenses-even Eric Dickerson would underperform in this offense or the Pistol because he like Martin are long striders. No reason to beat the kid in the ground when the offense changed-he didn't change. And this isn't a shot at June Jones who obviously is going to stick with the Run and Shoot. There's a college football writer at the DMN who wrote just last week that Martin was the most misused player in Texas-this is what he was talking about.
