Re: Who has the best fight song?No Quarter- I searched your message to try to figure out if it was some sort of long your momma joke, but as far as I could tell, it wasn't. So I think you're just confused as to who I am. And to my Number One fan, say Texas fight sucks again and I will kick your [deleted], then take your wallet, since you will owe me $20 anyway. 3-2 baby. It'll be sweet to take it in Colorado, but we may decide to come back home and give the Dallas fans a thrill.
HHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!<BR>USA!USA!USA!
Re: Who has the best fight song?Jim Duggan-
If you are the guy from Pennslyvania who played OL under Dave Smith and who was a highschool wrestler, then no joke, I met your folks at the team entrance at Ohio Stadium.
Re: Who has the best fight song? Please .... nothing better than watching the Whining Irish and "listing" to the Neuter Dame fight song? How about root canal? There few things in this world as painful as the weekly Neuter Dame lickfest on NBC.
HOCKEY'S BACK!
Re: Who has the best fight song?Sorry...I haven't been posting in quite some time now...sorry MustangMatt. UT (Of course I am referring to University of Texas, not the Volunteers--yeah, great mascot...) has the best fight song. PERIOD! And to top it off, they play the "Eyes of Texas" after a winning game.

Re: Who has the best fight song?In 1995, I believe, we traveled to College Station with our Mustangs to visit our AGGIE and attend the SMU/AG game. Donte Womack scored on the second play from scrimmage and the Mustangs generally kicked the AG's butts all day long. Until...the switch from the 3rd to the 4th Quarter and Kyle field literally rocked with the AGGIE War Hymn. A&M scored on the next play and regained the momentum and eventually won the game. That was the first of several times I've seen or heard that War Hymn do that very thing for the AG's. It has to be at least one of if not THE most inspiring 'fight songs' for the football troops.
Long live Thomas Sowell!
I ran a search for the "hacksaw," Jim Duggan and this was the first thread to pop up. I'll revive it even though it is very old.
The first link is to a person who is an expediter, i.e., he will take your package to where you need it delivered, SAP. He is also a pro wrestler with a following in Ohio. Most of the way down in the article he mentions Duggan. http://www.expeditersonline.com/artman/ ... event.html Funny where you'll conme up with a connection to SMU. The second link is to the million mile van used by the expediter. http://millionmilevan.com/
Most polls of this topic name Michigan is the best fight song. USC's is right up there apparently as well. I do like our fight song and Pony Battle Cry even better. UT and A&M's stink, but at least they are original. GT is excellent. I used to like William and Mary's (my other alma mater) until they had to PC the language and now it makes no sense at all.
The Aggie War Hymn has a real first verse thats actually about A&M, and not tu. True story. I was always a proponent of doing the real verse, then the tu verse, but no one knows it and everyone just wants to sing the tu verse twice...even when were playing southeast central louisiana monroe tech.
Even with 2 texas verses, the hymn is pretty good. Michigan is good, Texas fight sucks (i may be biases) and Rocky Top makes my ears bleed (I was at the A&M-Tennessee Cotton Bowl and got to hear it waaaay too much.) ![]()
Re: Who has the best fight song?
Dixie is great - TODAY. You don't get many chances to hear it these days. I recall when Midland Robert E. Lee was in the midst of winning three 5A championships in a row and playing at Texas Stadium, seemingly, every weekend - that Rebel Band knew Dixie and every version thereof - those 300 band members could play - and the people stood, at least the first few times - they played it a lot. Still do. 1. SMU 2. Wisconsin 3. ND

With regard to the SMU alma mater song, I have spent 45 years trying to find, " the hill over there". Some day I will bring in a surveyor and try to find that hill. Anyone know if the hill has a name???
Dallas Hall is on a hill, I believe it was the highest point in the county or Dallas at the time. Here is a 1968 topo map that shows that it is on a hill looking down at Dallas, but not the highest point in Dallas county. http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/topo/texas/txu-pclmaps-topo-tx-dallas-1968.jpg
