Texas can complain when they get a backbone and schedule good out of conference teams.
That had very little to do with it. Notice texas strength of schedule ranking is higher than OU's. Texas was hurt, however, by both the Nebraska and KU loss last night.
We need a playoff that is designed to encourage teams to play big time non conference games. No one likes to watch the blowouts that occur in the early part of the season.

I guess i disagree - you mix into the computer the patsie out of conference foes UTEP, Rice, Fl Atlantic and Arkansas - and if hurts your results. Had UT even had one decent team in that mix it would have kept them above OU at the end.
This is the fault of the athletic director.

Go look at the computers' strength of schedule rankings. For example, Sagarin still ranks Texas SoS as 12 and OU is ranked 17. That is tighter than last week when Texas's SoS was ranked 5th and OU ranked 25th in the same poll.

Ehhhh let's not do that to him. Texas should have run out the clock on their drive.

Apparently OU did more with their schedule then UT did with theirs. Fact remains that had it been a tougher schedule (tougher out of conference foes) then UT would have eclipsed the Sooners.

you are right-schedules in the long run were the difference, Tech would have been even more disadvantaged by their joke of a schedule. I can deal with that aspect. I've got an idea-why do we even include wins over Division 1AA teams when picking a National Champion-throw 'em out. They only give 60 scholarships.

The "excuse" of strength of schedule is baloney as evidenced by UT's being higher than OU's. This is simply the old age issue of a late season loss being more damaging than an early season loss.
This is the perfect answer to the argument against a playoff. Those who like the fact that "games in September matter as much as those in November"

Note TCU at No. 11 and Cinncinati at No. 13-probably just enough to trump Texas extra win over Missouri which had been No. 13 but lost

Might as well be the "We can't beat Texas" Championship game - both teams lost to them this season. Ridiculous..
What we obtain too cheap.. we esteem too lightly. It is persistence alone that gives everything its value.
