Renewing a colorful tradition
Saturday's USC-UCLA game will revisit an old tradition, with the Trojans planning on wearing cardinal jerseys
[quote]The USC-UCLA rivalry is about to get a little more colorful.
Saturday’s game at the Rose Bowl will revive a classic tradition between the cross-town rivals, with the Trojans planning to wear their home cardinal jerseys instead of the road whites, Coach Pete Carroll announced today.
It’s a flashback to the days when USC and UCLA shared the Coliseum as their home field and both donned home jerseys for the annual rivalry matchup. The tradition stopped in 1982 but will resume Saturday when the Trojans emerge from the Rose Bowl locker room in cardinal instead of white.
“It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a while,â€

Yea, some of these posters forget that 50% of SMU grads are from outside of Texas. They think that there is no other team other than the Longhorns. Well being from out of state and currently living out of state, I believe USC has proven to be a top team. Seven consecutive 11 win seasons, 2 titles, 3 Heismans. Didn't they have a 34 game win streak? People say they have a weak schedule. Well, at least they pursue top nonconference BSC teams to play. Historically speaking, Ohio State, Notre Dame and Virginia are top notch programs. Look at Florida and Texas nonconference schedule. You tell me which schedule is most impressive. I guarantee that USC would be favored over ANY team in college football if they played next week. USC had one bad half (out of 22) and that is the half that matters most. People forget how awesome their defense is. One of the best in college football. Don't believe me? The NFL first round picks will back up my statement. I look forward to the arguements, but expect only one line zingers.
Go Mustangs.

I understand the feeling. I am finding it hard to believe all the Longhorn love that some of these SMU people have. I was born and raised in Dallas, graduated from high school there and then on to SMU. Brother-in-law started on the 1963 NC team at Texas and I was in their locker room on more than one occasion. I still don't like them. My passion is only for SMU. I can understand rooting for some other team, but some of these guys are acting like the world is coming to an end because the beloved longhorns may have been slighted in some way. If it wasn't so pathetic, it would be funny.
When will I start feeling stimulated??

Plain fact of the matter is that USC routinely lays a massive turd to one of the dogs in their conference (i.e. Oregon State and Stanford last year) when they have absolutely no business losing to to those teams. They are a byproduct of a seriously apathetic conference for football despite recruiting heads and shoulders above any other college program in the country.
The first line of this post has had me laughing for like 10 minutes straight.
I find it funny that everyone says that a certain team would win it all in a playoff when they have already proven that in a given week, they can lose. Quit stating your opinion like it's fact. Could USC win a playoff? Sure. But so could almost all of the top 10 teams under the right circumstances.
The fact of the matter is, there is no playoff system, so quit talking about schools like USC who are irrelevant when it comes to this year's national championship.

USC should have beaten Ore State that Thursday night.
Their fault they find themselves in the position they are in.
And yes, they get all the recruits. I think they are looking at another class packed with 5 stars.
Whatever happened with all that Bush business?
