Furthermore there really isn't any good reason why we don't go to a bowl game every year. The death penalty was too long ago to be an excuse. There is no reason why we should ever be any worse than TCU, Houston, Tulsa, Rice, etc.

SMU is a rich school in the most fertile HS football ground and a very desirable location for high school kids to play in. We have beautiful facilities and all of the infrastructure in place to be a competitive team. I will be as happy as the next guy when it happens, but it won't be a miracle...it'll just be about flipping time!

Which just highlights how unbelievably incompetent SMU has been for 25 years, and why just getting to mediocre is a major accomplishment.
Not saying we'll get BLM on the cover of anything, but if we make a bowl game there will be nation wide media coverage due to Jones and the ability for schools to dust off old death penalty stories. Plus they get to use all sorts of great zombie and/or resurrection references.
I'd like to see a picture of Peruna on the front page of something, with the caption "He Is Risen"

Other notable incidents involving Peruna are when he tried to mount Texas Tech's horse, Misty,
sent the University of Texas Longhorn Bevo to the ground with a kick in the side,
and defacated at midfield during a TCU - SMU game, the week that TCU unveiled the school's brand new Field Turf.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have our winner for most insightful comment ever! And tell that to whoever it was who started this thread is. Come on, a player on the team coming onto this board and posting something. That is W-E-A-K, weak, weak, weak. Tell him to get his [deleted] into the weight room, watch film or do something to actually help this team beat a D1A team instead of wasting his time coming onto this board, caring about what we think. What a clown.
Larry Brown? We have Larry Brown? Cool!

I am just glad BLM's uncle called him gunslinger. Imagine the tattoo if he had called him Hancock cranium or something similar.

Don't you have to be 21+ to get into Ozonas?

He probably called him a lot of things other than "Gunslinger". Unfortunately, he will never have the chance to see him play college ball.
Bowl Time...

I hate to disagree with you, but Rutgers is a top academic school accepting students with a median average SAT score of roughly 1360 to get into Rutgers College. Yes, they have some lower level colleges on campus as part of the university system. Yes, they have historically been the worst football program in the history of the NCAA; however, that all changed 8 years ago when they hired NJ native Greg Schiano ( offensive coordinator at Miami under Butch Davis) as their football coach. They now have a top football program with top 25 recruiting classes the past few years. Two years ago it took an overtime loss to keep them out of a BCS bowl game. Contrary to your opinion NJ has one of the top HS football programs in the nation. Problem was that until Schiano got to Rutgers all the kids had to go out of state to play Div I football. Hence, NJ kids were never identified with local schools as there were none. Penn State, Pitt, ND, Michigan, Ohio State, Miami, Florida State, Iowa, Boston College and Purdue loaded up with NJ kids. Now new programs at U Conn and Buffalo are into the mix. Your perception that NJ HS football is not good is way off base and Rutgers is a very formitable program.
