Okay. I'M SORRY about JW and hope he makes a full recoveray, at least so far as normal locomotion and a painfree fuure life are concerned. And I admire him for not quitting after his SMU career as the top QB ended.
BUT, tell me. Did (does) he really figure in the receiver rotation in 2009 or later if he makes a the hoped for recovery? What would a medical redshirt do for the program? More, if he did play another year as a receiver (fully recovered) how would that change his pro potential?
I don't want to seem cold, but I'm interested in the players who will surely be out there this fall. The subject of an "emergency" QB was discussed in another thread and the best response was that coach had said that JW would be available if needed, so as to avoid burning a redshirt year for the freshman from Southlake.
I'll sure be interested in hearing about it if anyone besides BLM and Smith and the transfer get any reps in the remainder of spring practice.

Hang in there Justin. Don't out-tough yourself; you'll have a chance to lead the team in receiving in 2010.

I don't think one of these posts says his is a big loss to the team or anything of the sort. Justin is one of the most recognizable athletes and still holds a number of SMU records and was the winning QB for seven of the last 8 SMU victories and led this team to its most wins since 97. Plus, he handled a very difficult situation with class and chose not to quit.
I think people just respect him and wish him the best. I don't think anyone is adjusting their win projections for next season because of it.
At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Is he still there? My office is near there, I could walk over and get the first hand story.

Just a note: Craig Welch just left Justin's room and reports Justin is in great spirits and appreciates all the well wishes from PonyFans.com.

Hope he has a speedy, as possible, recovery. He sure has had some bad luck (and so does SMU at QB). JW - we wish you well.

Yes, No Quarter, Justin was very much in the WR rotation. If he chooses to apply for - and then receives - a medical waiver for a sixth year, I would bet he'll be in contention again.
Hang in there, Justin, and take care of that bum wheel. We're pulling for you.

As difficult as this is for JW, I'm sure he will get a medical, fully recover, and return next year ready to play. He is not going to quit. You can be sure of that.

Actually the reporters from Ponypride and ponystampede have said that if the top 4 were to be announced right now it would be AR, ES, Terrance Wilkerson, and JUSTIN WILLIS

Not sure about as good as could have been expected, but yes, this is probably better than a joint injury--as far as recovery is concerned. Difficult to know for sure without knowing exactly where the fracture is and how clean of a break it is....but I assume we are talking a tibia fracture (or tibia and fibula) without any joint involvement.
If that is the case, I assume they plated it or put a rod in. Recovery would be the same as any broken bone. Once the bone is healed, you just need to recover the strength lost from being off it for a couple of month--versus having to rehab a reconstructed ligament or something of that nature.
The main problem with spiral fractures is they are sometimes more difficult to set properly and therefore have more issues with malunion. As long as the break was relatively clean and the surgery went well, that shouldn't be an issue though.
