Re: JJ's push to sell out SFA opener
How sad that the prediction for a sell-out is against a Div. 1 FCS (for you purists that's Div. 1-AA) team.

They're ordered - haven't arrived.George S. Patton wrote:I have my season tickets. Do you?
I also plan to be at every home game. Do you? (Oh, wait, you've already announced you're missing a home game and a nearly-home game in FW ... where does your avatar say you live? Not saying you shouldn't go, but if you're skipping out on SMU games, don't preach to others about being there.)
So you'd prefer he preach doom and gloom? Or perhaps not say anything at all? Yup - that'll sell to ticket buyers and recruits.George S. Patton wrote:Enough! As Mustang fans, I would like to more posts not tear down other Mustang Fans.
This is a good way to communicate about our beloved Mustangs so try to cut down on the cuts and unite in the common goal of supporting our team.
Positive thoughts and energy are needed.
We all want more wins and more fans in their seats.
Sorry, but it gets pretty petty on this board at times.
Go Mustang Family!

Another example of a thread about something positive....our coach predicting
a sell-out and the Doom & Gloom Cavalry comes racing in to "pee on the parade".

Re: JJ's push to sell out SFA opener
I hope we do sell out, but with us it is simply about numbers. We simply do not have the student or alumni numbers others have.
When Copeland and Cavan came down to SA years ago for the event at Sonterra County Club with diagrams of the plans for Ford Stadium Copeland was asked why only 32,000 and not just build it right away with the 45,000 seats. They had stats which showed even in our Pony Express glory days the average attendance was still just a little over 30,000 (of course bigger games drew more, but we averaged only 30k). As they were asking us for money for Ford, rationale given was better to have a full 30,000 or so stadium that a 45,000 one that is only 2/3 full.
if we consistently averaged 30,000 now I would be happy. if we really starting winning it will be possible.

Selling out for Tech or A&M would be no feat.
