He also owned the team during some of the most pathetic years in team history, so I'm not sure his ability to lob a 60-foot changeup had anything to do with the team's inexplicable success this year.

Ah yes. Own the team that DADDY arranged the financing for.

After struggling with the Cocaine its nice he had DaDa to help him make "good" .

If we need magic to beat SFASU something is truly wrong. The game can't get here soon enough for me. GO STANGS!

Was wondering when the first candidate for BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrum) would show up.

President Bush is looking smarter by the day. I'm proud he will be there to flip the coin and I wish we had him back. I can think of several others that would be better then him - but can think of nobody that could be worse the the current "when in doubt, nationalize it" crew.

I heard a rumor that W took in practice this morning, spoke to the team afterwards, and has a skybox. True?

Former President Bush visits SMU practice

We knew something was up when a small army of broad-shouldered men in suits and sunglasses poured into Ford Stadium this morning.

Sure enough, former President George W. Bush marched in with them - along with SMU president R. Gerald Turner - to take in some practice. He even plopped on a red SMU hat for part of his stay. Of course, Bush's presidential library will one day be built very near Ford Stadium.

Coach June Jones had given Bush the practice schedule and asked him to stop by and speak to the team when he could. Bush addressed the Mustangs for five minutes or so after practice. Jones said Bush will also take part in some events surrounding the Navy game here Oct. 24.

Bush apparently told the team he was an "SMU rookie."

Kicker Kellis Cunningham had met Bush last semester in a journalism class and resumed a conversation Monday with Bush on the Rangers' latest moves.

I'll have more details shortly.

You know an ex-president visiting the campus, showing up at games, is not a bad thing. I really think this is a great coup for the University to have him be an active part of the University community, not just have a library named after him. I know some folks hate his guts, but others hate the other guys guts. And over time that hatred turns into nostalgia.

We can now be the team 1/2 of the population hates.

Buy thousands of dollars worth of our gear and do what you want with it - just buy it

Come to games and jeer him. Let us raise ticket prices to accommodate you

perhaps Tom Ridge should be advised to raise the Danger Code to Code Orange immediately.

And to honor his coin toss and any future games he attends, the band will salute him pre-game with the traditional Diamond 'W' to the east stands.
