A friend informs me that Shawnbrey McNeal is the only player in Div 1 college football that has requested a waiver and still has not got an answer from the NCAA. Does anyone know if that is in fact true? I am always paranoid the NCAA is out to screw us, but is there a reason (like we filed the request later than other schools, ect?) that SMU finds out last and the very day before the first game whether Shawnbrey can play this year?

I was reading the paper this morning-one local team I think it was Baylor was still waiting for clearance on two players as of yesterday-not sure it involved transfer players or not. I'm telling you sometimes these eligibility rulings are delayed even into the start of the season. If you do a Google search with the words NCAA Clearance-there are kids all over the country waiting on eligibility rulings.

Except if you are Alabama where there players (star WR and RB) took paid fishing trips and other gifts from a booster but agreed to do some "charity" hours so they have already been given their clearance to play. Funny how NCAA can rule on the Alabama and Ohio State requests week or so ago, but didn't get yet to Baylor or SMU.

That would require us to believe the athletic department is more concerned with beating SFA than with promoting any and everything about the program, as well as advancing The Sellout ...

unless you're implying they've been hiding a rejection, in which case it would fit perfectly with the MO.
